At long last, I am pregnant!

My guess is Lee is feeling pretty reamed right about now. I’ll bet everyone’s just fussin’ over little Loren and not doing the Straight Dope. Maybe they’ll post pictures by Monday. Hint, hint.

Congrats baby Loren and family!

Congratulations to all!

I was thinking about you yesterday at work, when I remembered you mentioning in your other thread that your due date was May 1. I was hoping when I saw this thread reopened that it was good news.

Congratulations Lee, KellyM, Mr. Lee, and Loren! Mucho joy to your family.

WOOHOO!! I told you she’d be born on May 1st!! It IS the best day of the year, of course

Congratulations to all four of you!

Kalhoun, all three of us filled out the necessary paperwork to override the presumption of paternity. I am listed as the legal father on the birth certificate and am her father for all legal purposes.

There is a photo here. I have more taken but I have not had time to prep them for the web. Loren is a girl (as predicted), weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces, and was 20 inches long.

If all goes well, everyone will come home tomorrow. I have been coming home late in the evening and returning in the morning. I’ll be going to bed soon.

Oh, she’s beautiful!

May Day is the best day of the year to be born on! She is so very lucky.

Congratulations to you all! Lots of love and good wishes coming your way.

How is Lee doing with getting started nursing? Tell her that it gets easier and easier. (And if she’s nursing, you and Mr. Lee should bring her a glass of water!) I remember Lee saying something about you nursing, too. Can you?

GreenBean: Loren nursed for 45 minutes in the recovery room (thanks to Karen, an absolutely wonderful LDR nurse who disregarded the nursery’s demand to have her sent over “right away” so they could “stabilize her blood sugar”) and has been nursing well since them when she wakes up enough to nurse. She wants to sleep almost all the time right now, which is not unusual for the first few days.

We are all back home now. My parents came by today and visited us. Loren does not like photo flashes, but she didn’t cry about them, she just shut her eyes. So far she isn’t fussy at all really. The only thing unusual is that she hasn’t been losing weight as fast as the other babies, but that is great. Nursing is going well, although it is easier on one side than the other. I think things will improve when she is more alert.

I am exhausted, I have to say that this is far from the hardest thing I ever had to do. Having KellyM and Mr. Lee on either side of me, one gently stroking my belly and the other slowly massaging my hand let me feel how much they loved me. I never dispaired, and never felt like I just could not do this anymore. I was able to make it though the pitocin augmented labor without pain medicine and still have plenty of reserve left to finish the job right.
