That three hour period or so where I wasn’t on the forums? That was me entertaining my sister. >.<
Well, I think it would be respectable to finish above average in your first stab at the quarterly game.
Which, is just as good, given that it would appear that is where I have gravitated towards.
aww, the halcyon days of my youth.
and the harsh realities of my doddering time.
It’s hard to feel bad for you peek, but that doesn’t mean I’m not trying!
I admit, I had to look that one up. I knew you weren’t talking about a Mortal Kombat track listing.
But,
Peeker having a “Calm” moment in his life?
I would love to see that.
There was some discussion about the hand where I busted Meeko, because I had said “I have to call” his all-in. (If I have this straight) I had put in 400 from the big blind, Meeko raised all-in to 740. The pot would have been 200SB + 400BB + 100(?)antes + 740 = 1440. I only needed to add 340 for a chance to win that 1440: 1440/340 is a little over 4 to 1.
AA vs 72o is about a 6 to 1 favorite. Overpair vs underpair is about a 4 to 1 favorite. Middle pair vs an overcard and undercard is about a 2.5 to 1 favorite. Overcards vs undercards is about a 2 to 1 favorite. A straddle (a term I just made up for when only one card is higher than the opponent’s, like A6 vs J4) is about 1.7 to 1. A split (overcard and undercard against 2 in the middle) is about 1.5 to 1. Overcards vs underpair (the classic race) is about even money. (Did I leave out any scenarios?)
So, the only way calling with Q5o would be a bad choice is if Meeko had an overpair. Against a random hand Q5o is even money. (Against Meeko’s A2s, it is only a 1.7 to 1 underdog.)
(I reeeeealy hope I didn’t screw this up.)
Antes were $25/per for a total of $175, according to the log.
OK. I doubt that I will refigure this.
yaknow, i really don’t know what in the world you are blathering about. i got dealt the old maid about a dozen times and no one, i mean not a soul, would take her off my hand. so i was kind of like screwed all night dontyaknow. i mean i did get a couple of porcupines and a daisy at one point but the ol’ bitty was still laughing at me. seriously, try moving up the standings with that stuff. it’s just not easy.
Got the 27" monitor up, so I will try and give it another go. Can’t say much about my ability to concentrate enough to play well, but more money for y’all.
Server’s up. Thanks for the reminder/bump.
Sorry guys. I’m afraid to host on my laptop as it’s been unstable lately (think it’s the hardware, not sure) and of course the desktop is still dead.
Another good turnout tonight with 12 players. Results:
- Dag Tomov
- Oslo
- Ast
- Fubbs
- Missy
- Peek
- Root
- Crane
- Yeti
- Cookies
- Red
- Meeko
Damn! I didn’t see that coming. I wish Ast would have sat out one more.[sup]1[/sup] But congrats to him for cashing two out of three games he played, and bubbling the third, thereby winning the quarter:
1 asterion 76.6
2 Oslo Ostragoth 73.3
3 MissTake 67.5
4 Dag Otto 59.5
5 Robot Arm 59.3
6 Yeticus Rex 57.2
7 MentalGuy 56.5
8 Craneop2 56.3[sup]2[/sup]
9 Meeko 53.7
10 Red Skeezix 52.4
11 fubbleskag 48.4
12 peekercpa 44.2
For the quarter:
Wins (a measure of awesomeness):
4 Oslo
2 Yeti
1 Dag, Meeko, Missy, Peek, Red, Root
Cashes[sup]3[/sup] (finishes in the top 3 - a measure of consistent solid play, and in the world of real money play, the stat that probably matters most):
6 Missy, Oslo
4 Dag
3 Red, Root, Yeti
2 Ast, Fubbs, Meeko, Mental, Peek
1 Crane
Everybody that played at least three games cashed at least once - way to go!
Bubbles[sup]3[/sup] (fourth - a measure of frustration for playing late into the game but not cashing):
3 Oslo
2 Red, Root
1 Ast, Fubbs, Mental, Missy, Yeti
[sup]1[/sup]For the numbers nerds among us, Ast would have won the quarter even if I had won the last game. If he had only finished fifth or lower…Evidently, my 4/5 and 6/8 finishes killed me.
[sup]2[/sup]Apologies to Crane: I had a goof in the spreadsheet that overstated his standing.
[sup]3[/sup]The old site paid a maximum of three, regardless of how many played. PM pays more, depending on how many play, but I don’t think I have the energy to calculate it correctly.
Peeker: a last place finish in the 40’s is very respectable. IIRC, some have finished in the 20’s.
And, lest we forget, we need a theme for the next quarter. So, you clever people (I am not one), pipe up now!
<snipped>
but where were they when i needed them, so thanks, i guess.
hope springs enternal would be my suggestion.
fits with the season and i like king plus shawshank was really enjoyable plus i need the encouragement.
I think Oslo won the quarter. Seriously. It doesn’t really seem right to play one game a month and then win the quarter.
