Atheists and Satanists sabotage Twitter poll

Shush, already.

Yay! Team Winning!

And who could possibly be behind this? Could it be… Satan?

The Bible does say “Thou shalt not allow a witch to live.” So why aren’t all these fine Christians out killing witches, Satanists, pagans and the like???

Wow! How pathetic. Typical right-wing conservative Christian attitude – just cry “Persecution!” if everything doesn’t go your way.

Because we’d fight back, not having that “turn the other cheek” and “forgive your enemies” thing as a mandate (not that the Christians haven’t often ignored it when it suits them).

Those poor women and men burned at the stake or hung or whatever for centuries were most likely Christians just like their neighbors rather than actual “witches, Satanist, pagans, and the like”.

Yeah, well, they’ve been told all their lives that they’re right and on God’s side and God only supports winners… so they don’t question their position(s). Even when they lose.

What are they complaining about? Without persecution, they can’t complete their punchcards.

“Collect 10,000 Persecution Points® and and get one sin FREE!”

That’s the verse I use with my Christian contemporaries who say the Bible says being gay is a sin, and everything the bible says must be right.

Stupidity is power. They didn’t get enough stupid, so they added more.

Because not enough Christians serve in elected office. So it’s not legal. Yet.

It’s inspiring how the nonbelievers and the Satan-worshippers came together for a common cause like that! Thank you, NACL, for bringing us this feel-good story of interdenominational cooperation.

My dad was a fundamentalist, and he had a binary view of the world. There are only two things in the world, Good and Evil, and therefore all good things are the same, and all evil things are the same.

For instance: America is good, and Christianity is good. Therefore America is a Christian nation. Abortion is evil, and homosexuality is evil. Therefore, the gays are all running around getting abortions.

The logic works, in a twisted way. It just doesn’t at all resemble reality.

This idea is a major plot point in the movie The Rise and Rise of Michael Rimmer. Basically, a polling company manages to sabotage another company’s survey by making everyone in a typical English suburb a practising Buddhist.

If you haven’t seen this movie, but are a fan of Peter Cook, Arthur Lowe, Denholm Elliott, a script by Cook, Chapman and Cleese and cameos by basically every British comedy star from the late 60s, it’s well worth your time.

Here’s a link the Tube : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WT_prfYb6DE - the religous survey starts at 23.40 and goes for about 5 minutes.

I think I participated in that survey. Don’t recall where I saw the link. I, of course, am a godless atheist, so I definitely helped skew the results in the proper fashion.

It’s the kind of logic that let people conclude that somehow Barack Obama was a Muslim and an atheist at the same time.
