Quasimodem, I don’t know what’s nearby, but I admit to not being a huge drinker(though I do occasionally overindulge ;)), and I always have a sofa for rent. Unless there’s someone sleeping there, in which case I have a lovely futon mattress, also available for floor sleeping. And, I’m not opposed to a taxi ride if I do drink too much.
mouthbreather, the way my scedule looks I probably won’t make it until between 7:15 and 7:30, so I’d assume people will still be there between 8 and 9. Then again, I do know what happens when you assume…
Anyway, now that it’s the god-awful hour of 6, or nearly so, it’s time for me to head to the pit of despair. Thank God tomorrow is casual day.

Well I definitely could not do this regularly. Friday is a regular pool night for me.
Just to introduce myself, my rl name is sean and I’m a Unix systems administrator. outside interests are reading, shooting pool and shooting guns (I don’t kill things, just paper.) I don’t bother following politics or news because they’re just too depressing. majored in math, minored in philosophy but that was years ago.

The Higlander is off of Monroe, very close to the Virginia/Monroe intersection. Is that what you are thinking of? I don’t know what hoedown’s is.

Thanks, the shopping area has 2 levels and there’s a theatre there? That’s where I was thinking. Hoedown’s is a CW bar in front next to the Winn Dixie.

The Clairmont is probably good for an interesting experience but I’m a little old for that now.

There are no hotels in the vicinity, but there are some bed and breakfast accomodations over on Piedmont Avenue. (Not too far away.)
Now, we wouldn’t want to raise the standards of the Clairmont too much would we? After all, then those of us lunching at Sensational Subs might miss the lovely view.
I could almost make it a regular thing, though I travel for work a good deal so I definately would not make it consistently. Example: the month of May is just about a total loss for anything vaguely social apart from the cousin’s wedding, and that’s not social, it’s family.
