I see so many people like him around. The kids are also extremely realistic - my daughter walked in and said it sounded like her school was on TV. Moses has charisma.
It was filmed two minutes’ walk up the road from me, which is why I watched it. Never saw any trailers. Were people expecting it to be a comedy? I don’t think it was meant to be one. It has a few funny bits, but they’re not the main aim of the film.
I watched this recently. It was a fun little movie–not particularly special but I’m a sucker for cheesy monster movies and this fit the bill.
I thought the best actors among the boys were Moses and the kid who was trapped in the trash bin. And the college kid who was in the building to buy weed. The main actress was very good, and I bet we’ll see her in higher-profile projects soon.
It was nice that they foreshadowed some things throughout, like the one kid wanting to make the jump to the pedestrian ramp earlier and then having to do it on the run later, and the pothead watching the tv nature show about moths and pheremones, which would come in useful later. I especially liked how when they were all going to their homes to get weapons, one of the kids faked a limp when he walked in so that he could sneak the baseball bat out in his pantsleg and it would just look like he was still limping–and then later he is bitten badly in that leg and really does have to limp around.
I liked the minimalist approach to the aliens, both in appearance and background info. I give a lot of credit to the director for making a decent movie out of something that could have turned out ***really ***bad in someone else’s hands.
