ATTENTION : Anyone who posted in the "If LOTR had been written..." thread

I’m going to be adding this entire damned thread to Teemings Extras. I’ve asked the powers that be for permission from the Reader, but normally I would ask the individual posters for permission. But since there are so many here, it’s fairly impossible. So, if there is anyone who does NOT want their piece added to that site, please either contact me or let me know here.

Thanks,

Euty

Euty…did you mean to make this a sticky?

“… damned thread.” Getting tired of loading and reading it, Euty?

Can iI send you my contribution, without the typos?

ivylass I would have, but I think Ike is getting jealous. I was kidding him at the NY dopefest that my ultimate goal is to have the whole front page of Cafe Society all stickies and all by me and I’m not too sure if he took me seriously or not.

Gangster Octopus Yes, please do. I’m just taking them all verbatim from the thread, but if you have a corrected version, please e-mail it to me.

But it says right down there…

So what’s the biggie?

I don’t think it’s a legal issue; it’s just a courtesy.

I don’t think Teemings is associated with Chicago Reader.

It could be considered so since it depends heavily on the Reader’s copyrighted material (this MB).

Ya know, I opened this thinking two things:

  1. It was going to be an announcement that it was time to close the original thread and start the sequel in about eighteen more posts.

  2. If (1.), above, it ought to be a sticky.

erislover is correct. Teemings is not directly associated or controlled by The Chicago Reader. I did ask Ed Zotti for permission to reproduce the thread, which he granted. However, I also wanted to give anyone who specifically didn’t want to see their work there an opportunity to opt out, if they so desired.

Euty The Teemings is perfectly welcome to my lame attempt at Allan Dean Foster.

Does this make me a writer now?

Woo hoo! Gandalf-Muad’dib hits the big time!

Go ahead and post my “literary” bits, but please remove the link to the Master and Apprentice Bulwer-Lytton/TPM Slash Challenge.
(My posts are on page 10.)

Thanks.

I’d like to change the title of my entry from “Lord of the Rings, by Ayn Rand” to “Gandalf Shrugged, by Ayn Rand.”

That particular missed opportunity has been bugging me for a few weeks, now.

Oddly enough, I thought a good title for the Ayn Rand book would be “Gollum Shrugged” or “The Enthead”… sadly, I was unable to log into the site in time to peruse said stories, and am at a loss as to where they are in the link above…

Any help is appreciated.

Oops, found it… never mind.

Believe it or not, I was just in the middle of adding your post when I saw this. Done and done. I’ll be posting what I have done this weekend sometime. It’s going to be a continuing project for a few weeks what with over a thousand posts to go through. Plus, I’m gotten Gaudere to create some banner graphics for us to really dress up the site nicely.

If there are any cartoon artists out there (Spoofe?) I have an outrageously evil idea for a cartoon parody, but it HAS to be a cartoon. text won’t work for this. If there is anyone interested in my idea, drop me a line.

I guess mine should be called “Hobbit in the Shire” by J.D. Salinger.

Eutychus - You’re more than welcome to my small contribution towards the end of it.
