Teemings : Should We Continue?

Since we started publishing Teemings it’s been like pulling teeth to get any feedback on anything we’ve done. It does rather leave me in a vaccuum as to whether we should continue or not. Is anybody reading it? Is it at least halfway interesting and worthwhile to continue on with it?

Well, I very much enjoy Teemings.

Even before I had an article in it.

Hiya! I enjoy Teemings as well, there’s always some
good writing in them. Please keep it up

I’m reading it, and enjoying it very much.

We have a very talented bunch here. Sometimes it takes me awhile to read the whole thing, but I have yet to read anything that wasn’t worth my attention.

Thanks to all of you who spend so much volunteer time putting it together…we never thank you enough.

I enjoy reading the Teemings. I’d like to see it continue.

I particularly enjoy the humourous section - perhaps that could be expanded more?

Fran

Of course we should continue. A lot more people read it then you think. A lot of good chat conversations have been sparked by articles in Teemings.

I think it would be a real mistake to get rid of it. It’s a very good creative outlet for board members and is always by turns inspiring, thought provoking and downright hilarious. If your want to encourage comments how about putting in a guestbook or something like that?

We had one, plus a cgi form for “Letters to the Editor.” Almost no one ever used it.

Just out of curiosity, do you know how many hits does the teemings website get per week? If not you could maybe put in a hit counter or something like that. I’m betting it probably gets a lot more hits than you think and the high figures might be encouraging

Oh, :frowning:

I received positive email feedback (directly to me) regarding the article I submitted to Teemings…if that counts towards anything.

Teem on, Euty.
Please!

…I haven’t the nerve to submit anything myself, but I enjoy seeing a side of my fellow Dopers that can only be seen there.

…what the heck is *Teemings?

You should look at The Straight Dope home page some day.

Barring that, Teemings

I apologize, Eutychus…it was a poor excuse for a witticism, and I was regretting it even as I was hitting “submit.”

I appreciate your efforts and the efforts of the contributors, and I would certainly not wish to deprive Teemings fans. That said, I, for one, don’t particularly enjoy it.

Stick with it Euty! It’s way more than halfway interesting to me! Then again, I can play with my navel lint or a roll of scotch tape for hours…

I always read it, Euty, and I think it’s worthwhile. It’s just that like a lot of people I didn’t bother to comment on it…and for that I apologize, because I know the feeling from personal experience.

I have shown my novel, or parts of it, to quite a few people. When I manage to get anycomments out of them–which ain’t the norm–the conversation usually goes something like this:

ME: “So what did you think?”
THEY: “It’s good.”
ME: “Yeah?”
THEY: “Yeah…I liked it.”
ME: “What did you like about it?”
THEY: “Well…it’s good.”
ME: “Was there anything you didn’tthink was good?”
THEY: “No no…I liked it.”

And these are people I actually know, mind you–in some cases blood relatives. So I have come to the conclusion that a lot of people either don’t want to express literary criticism directly to the creators or are afraid of trying to and looking stupid. I’ve learned not to take it personally, or decide it means no one cares.

But…if you gotta have feedback, you could always bring TheUglyTruth back.

**The critics say Leaves In The Skyis a smash hit!

I certainly ike it – and not just because you’ve been kind enough to print my contributions. I’ve read all the contribution from my fellow Dopers, and thought most of them were excellent. I’m at fault for not writing in and telling them this.

Besides, I’d like to see it continue. Not only do I have a few other pieces I’d like to submit, But Pepper Mill has written a wicked little piece that would be perfect.

I read it every time, Euty, and enjoy it. And yes, Cecil Cove 3 is near done. But I am stuck on a couple things.

BTW - you have mail.
