Audio Drivers for HP

I’m working on a close friend of mine’s computer because it was acting up on her and finally gave up and decided to reinstall WindowsXP. It was all fine and dandy until she told me she didn’t have any of the drivers. Great, have to look them up. Found everything except the audio drivers, which elude all my Google searches.

So, I’m hoping you guys can be of assistance in finding audio drivers for a “hp pavilion 533w desktop PC” so that I may return it to her all fixed.

All help is much appreciated.

Does this help?

      • I had a name-brand computer and while reinstalling the OS, I found that the manufacturer took all the updated drivers completely off the North American website, which was of course where I looked, because that’s where I am located. Some time later when I checked the Euro/UK site, it not only had all the drivers and firmware the US site had previously, but had newer versions of some that were over a year more current than the newest ones I’d ever gotten off the US site. Why the difference I don’t know, but it’s something to check, anyway.

Daizy, that would help but when we reinstalled the OS it wiped all of that clean. I no longer have any of that.

Thanks for the tip, DougC, and I’m currently looking into that.

Anymore help would be appreciated, my friend is insisting that she has sound on this machine so she can play CDs. I told her to stop complaining and that you can’t always get what you want, she was not amused.

I’m not sure I fully understand what you’re trying to say?
I’m surprissed that XP didn’t find it’s own drivers for it?
Did you read this page?

Sorry… caffeine depletion is kicking in.

The 533w uses a Stereo AC’97 codec Analog Devices AD1885 chip

Go here

or here for the XP driver -

If driverguide.com requires signing in use “drivers” and “all” for the user ID and password

Thank you all for your advice. It is my computer that Brilharma is talking about, its not looking to good though. Thank you all though, we have looked into all of it. Right now I’m waiting for the Windows XP disks to come from HP, they said that those will have all the drivers and everything I need so I get that in about a week. If anyone has anymore advice though I would be glad to hear it and I think that Brilharma would too, he has probably put more time into this than me, I don’t know to much about computer.
Yes, I don’t know what it is about sound but I really like that on my computer so I DO want my sound!

Umm… the XP audio driver link for your machine’s audio chip is in the post right above yours. Did they not work?

I’m guessing that it didn’t, but I haven’t been over there today working on my comptuer. Last I knew we were still looking :(. Thank you though.

It’s finally over, the drivers came in from HP and everything works. Thank you all for trying to help, don’t know why half of this stuff didn’t work in the end.
