Sing Cross-Eyed Mary by Jethro Tull. That’ll get’em.
That’s what I’ve always said I’d do if I auditioned. They’re coming to Chicago this summer…
Knock 'em dead, Axl.
Wear the kilt.
I’m goth, and I’ll be one of the first in line… I’ll get in.
As for not singing a showtune… I was thinking of something from Jesus Christ Superstar because it was one of those rare shows that was a crossover into the pop charts (two of the songs “Jesus Christ Superstar” and “I don’t know how to love him” hit the billboard top 10) – but the reason I don’t want to sing a song from it is because of the reason people have stated above (and why I’m asking for songs to sing aside from those two) – they might say it sounds too “broadway.” A condemnation I’d rather not hear.
I just want a nice and powerful male song from between the 50’s-70’s, I’m unfortunately not too well versed in that era. Not as well versed as I wish I could be.
I"d suggest getting a tape recorder (or better yet, a video camera) and record yourself singing the top 3 songs you’ve narrowed down. Then go with the one that makes you sound best.
