There you have it, little ol’ Oz is now one of the Western Worlds World’s guardians. Heh, and you guys have had to spent bazzillions to achieve the same result. Expect an Australian application to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council in the near future. (currently we are not a member)
Carrying on a great Aussie tradition of deference in such matters, the Islamic community have recommended that the call to war be ignored. Not unexpected, but good on them.
Given that a Federal election is due here on the 10th, does anybody else have a nagging “Wag the Dog” notion that this whole thing might just been scripted by the Liberal party as a re-election strategy?
Well, welcome to the club. We’ll have to teach you the secret handshake sometime later. As for the blind hatred from frothing-at-the-mouth zealots, well, you’ll get used to it.
Always knew the Aussies were righteous. Any nation that has the (seemingly) national passtime of drunken bar-brawl is OK by me. Welcome to the illustrious Club Of Nations That Annoy The Taliban[sup]TM[/sup]!
Does this make bells ring for anyone ???
Is he saying that we only have asylum seekers flooding our country because USA is attacking Afghanistan ?
Or is he saying that flooding our country with asylum seekers is some sort of counter-attack by the Taliban and they will stop firing their refugees at us, once attacks are stopped ?
Ummm, hello… Your countryfolk have been trying to get away from your oppressive rule for a lot longer than a couple of months…
On a wholly unrelated note I saw something the other day that seemed interesting. Apparently, some of the Pakistani troops on the border are teaching Afghani refugees the art of Cricket and they’ve taken to it in a huge way.
Made me wonder if one day in the future we might be playing them for The Ashes. The Ashes of what I’m not quite sure…there currently seems a range of options.
I suppose we’d soon get over concerns about a minority planning to blow up the Pavilion during tea.

Well, yeah. This is the same mob that was on TV last week laughing at Australia’s small military commitment to the region, and now they’ve declared Jihad.
Stupid pricks.
[sup]Even their name sounds like a brand of flea powder.[/sup]
Geez, Aussies asking for asylum in New Zulund? Knowing the Kiwi sense of humour, they’re probably already building extra padded cells in anticipation of the first arrivals.
Australia only got a mention because some ABC journalist (that’s the AustralianBC, not the other one) pushed the point, saying, “Is Australia included in that?” He sounded like a little kid tugging at his mum’s sleeve for a bit of attention.
