I ordered a whole bunch of post boxes from Australia Post last week and they got delivered today.
However……
Unlike in the store where the box is already assembled for you, these ones came flat and I had to put them together.
FLAT boxes WTF, how do I make a box out of this. I can see a bit that says Flap A fold first and all sorts of handy looking info but I just can’t do it. Half an hour of bending and pushing and nothing, nada, zilch, zip, kaput. I’m a cardboard box folding failure
Its crazy I tells ya crazy, this is why I never buy at IKEA or those other stores that expect you to assemble your own purchase. I just can’t do it, I have a man at home for this kinda stuff but I’m not going to admit to my boss that I the star employee has been bested by a box.
Please how do I make this flat cardboard into a box?
Is it all one piece? I don’t know exactly what you’ve got there, but if it’s all one prefab piece, just wrestle around with it a bit and the box shape should eventually appear.
Ringo I been wrestling with it for a while now (as my cardboard cut fingers will attest). I’m sure these are the work of the devil. Either that or Australia Post is run by sadists.
Unfortunatly they were not delivered in a box just wrapped around with those plasticy things that you can use to unlock cars when you’ve locked your keys in.
Reprise they cost the same as a fully assembled box. As I still can’t figure it out I’m taking them to my local post office tomorrow and asking to swap them for the ready made boxes. They may think I’m nuts but in reality it will be saving my sanity.
Never did understand the theory behind those pre-paid envelopes (other than the express post kind).
I know this is a very male thing to say (“men never want to ask for directions etc”) but if you were to put together a list of the top 100 things Princhester would not admit to in public under any circumstances whatever, then “I am unable to put together a cardboard box, even when armed with the instructions” would be right up there in the top 10. At least.
Sorry leechbabe, I suppose that’s not much use to you, but I couldn’t resist.
Now, are these the boxes where all the flaps are the same size? (Actually two will be the same size- across the box from each other- the other two will be the same size as each other , but bigger or littler than the first two, depending.) Or the kind of box where the two flaps on the short sides of the box are square, but the flaps on the long sides are different?
See, if it’s that second kind, you fold in the two little square sides first. Then you fold the one side done that has the chunk taken out of it. Then you fold done the last side that has the lip. You shove the lip into and under the side with the chunk taken out. It holds itsefl together that way.
Or use packing tape. Lots and lots of packing tape.
Or, when you take your boxes to your local post office to swap them and they tell you you can’t do that (you can never do simple stuff like that, it’s a rule) have them show you how they fold.

Hmmm… I see your problem. You’ve got these boxes set to evil.

And now my official response as an Australia Post employee:
Have you tried flirting with your local postie, and getting him to do it for you? Alternatively, play the Benny Hill theme music, make references to “inserting tab A in slot B” and giggle a lot.
rocking chair there are 9 other boxes in the pack that are still flat. As its taken me almost 8 hours to get one together your assistance would be most welcome in assembling the other 9.
