Pah, I got Headturner in the sweep. Pah, I say.

My REAL tip was Pop Rock, who came second. Close, but no cigar.

I had Railings and Tawqeet. I don’t get the appeal of horse racing at all, but I always go in the office sweeps.

I only remembered it had even been run because a friend who has no access to the real world while he’s at work called and asked me who had won.

Needless to say, when you’re the only person in the office, a sweep is not much good :stuck_out_tongue:

I got Delta Blues. Won $69- two cartons of beer for $5. First time I have won in years though.

I placed bets each way on Yeats and Pop Rock.
So yeah!! I got 2nd place…
But nah, didn’t recoup all my $$$.

But standing in an interminable line at the TAB clutching those slips of paper in your sweaty hands, before going on a work-sponsored 3-hour lunch, is what Melbourne Cup’s about!

I lost $5 on Dizelle, which came in as a tail ender. Funny though, it’s the first time I’ve ever been in a sweep where I didn’t draw my own horse. Not saying the guy is dodgy, but I just handed over the cash, and the next day the draw appeared on the staff notice board. Odd.

I managed to avoid it this year. Numbers were up at the work lunch and everyone else seemed keen, so I kept my $3.

I got the last runner in the $2 sweep so I got my money back, but I had Activation in the $1 sweep so I’m out a buck.

I’m a winner.

I didn’t loose any money on the race and didn’t waste a minute of my life watching or listening to any of the shite that surrounds the cup (though I must admit I wouldn’t mind watching a bunch of shitfaced sloanes wearing funny hats spewing in the gutter).
