There’s a front passing through. There’s been a few showers, dark grey cumulus clouds are blowing by on a stiff wind. I saw a branch fall as I was driving. Red maple leaves are littering the streets.
All in all, a nice day.

Yep. The tree in front of my house (which admittedly is doing none too well) has begun turning colors already. Nights are in the 40’s. But we’ve been having the best weather of the summer – days in the 70’s with few clouds and very little humidity. If the sun weren’t setting so durned early, it’d be great.
It is very pleasant here in the UK. I get back to the states on the 10 and I am hoping that the heat and humidity are a thing of the past by then. Hooray Autumn!
No, not already. Fall doesn’t start for more than two weeks yet. And with temps around 80 for the past several days, it doesn’t feel like it either.
I spent the day at the beach. Building sand castles, doing crosswords, trying not to burn, swimming in the lake. And I live in Canada, y’know, the land of ice and snow!
Came home to a dinner of bbq ribs, potato salad, corn on the cob, fresh baguette, watermelon for dessert.
Where I live the kids aren’t even back in school yet!
Hah, I curse you and your talk of Autumn!
Spring has sprung. I’ve spent most of today moving my winter clothing into the spare wardrobe and putting my summer stuff in my usual wardrobe. Still left a couple of long sleeved jackets in general use, though, just so I don’t tempt the weather fates.
Woah, we got a lot of rain in Portland this weekend.
Supposed to back in the 80s this week.
Seems like every fall it rains a few days the first week of September. Everyone always says September has the best weather in the PNW, but it seems to me that the last few years have been pretty cold and rainy.
I remember the fall of 93…I was in grad school, and one of my classes met outside every day until Thanksgiving.
There was a possible tornado in Enumclaw Washington today.
Seems like fall on the Northeast coast, maybe an occasional day in the 80’s, but a welcome relief from August. May it last until next June!
Been getting lots of afternoon showers here. I want to stain our new deck (most of it’s that composite board, so I only have to do the built in benches and stuff). It’s also a bit chilly. My Wife was going to stain the deck, and I was going to paint some doors. I reall don’t like to paint unless the temp reaches about 70. Looks like todays high may hit 60.
Weather Underground says 73 back home. Sweet! Looks like I’ll fly home Wed to nice weather.
So jealous! We will be having another 90+ degree, 90 percent humidity day here in Central Florida. Again. Probably with another thunderstorm around 5 p.m. Again. Bleah.
In five months I’ll be wishing for weather like that. (Not that we ever get that combination up here.)
The past week and a half have seemed more like late September or early October than August and early September. Today after work, I could have easily convinced myself that it was November just by looking at how gray the sky looked.
Heck, on August 31st, it hit 38 degrees just west of me a few miles.
Today was nice, in the 70’s, though. Lake Michigan was nicely swimmable, about 68 to 70 degrees, and crystal-clear and calm.
Not much of a summer overall, though.
Yep. Drove to work along the river, admiring the mist hovering above the trees that are gradually beginning to turn various shades of red and yellow.
Damn, I love living in Vermont.
When I posted this thread it was still Summer. After the Autumn-like weather, we warmed up again. But now, it’s officially Autumn. It’s like someone threw a switch. It was sunny and warm, and then after the Autumnal Equinox the clouds came in and temperatures dropped. I put the electric blanket on the bed, and the last couple of days I’ve started using the furnace.
Partly sunny today; but, except for a potential ‘warm snap’, it’s time to start settling in to seven months of cool/cold and wet. I’ll probably get the bike out of the shop just in time to remove the battery and cover it up.
