Avatar holdouts: going to stick to your guns or eventually get one?

I see a couple people are happy that our avatars aren’t animated with full audio. Afaik, no forum software does that. Some have animated sigs.

I’ve tested all of the available themes on an iPad with Safari. None of them produced the tiny avatars elbows is describing.

I think, elbows meant means on a phone. That would make sense at least. Reading their whole post, that is what it sounds like.

@elbows might have chosen the desktop view. I just looked on my phone and the avatars are minuscule. Mobile view, they’re much larger.

I prefer to be as invisible as possible. I consider avatars the same class as the “flairs” in the movie Office Space.

Yes, that must be it. Like I said, I use my phone here almost exclusively, and the avatars are quite large. She should try switching to mobile view.

elbows claims to be using an iPad in post #35 above:

I’m assuming that elbows knows the difference between an iPad and an iPhone, but maybe I shouldn’t be.

Wouldn’t an iPad still be considered a mobile device? At least in terms which view it displays by default.

On my iPad, the avatars appear to be the same size in mobile and desktop view.

Honestly, I have no idea what’s going on with what elbows is seeing.

Both of my iPads also/regular and Pro. I don’t expect avatars on my iphone to display the same, but they are still recognizable.

If somebody can find or make an accurate picture of what my username refers to, I’ll willingly use it for an avatar.

But I don’t think anybody can.

Could you tell us what it refers to?

Is this it?

I thought maybe this:

Imgur

I hope not, that would be slightly disturbing as an avatar. Not sure why.

Neither the lips or eyes are human.

Nope and nope: I am not a Kim Stuart and that is not my shoe.

In the context I’m thinking of, nobody knows what a kimstu is, not even me. So yeah, trick question, sorry.

I’m on the visual “spectrum,” too, so I rely on avatars a lot. I’ll normally look at an avatar before reading a name.

Does anyone recognize my avatar?

I don’t, but the internet does.

The eyebrows are a tad scary also.

Maybe it’s my browser settings, but they are far too small to be useful. They’re more of a clog of the board arteries than a useful feature. I’d rather have the names from the old board back. So I’ll never get one.

And I’m never going to watch Avatar, either.
