Average Joe 2/23 (spoilers please)

I was rolling, just freakin’ rolling.

WTF!?!?!?!

God damn. I want my hour back.
What’s the point of this dumb show if she chooses the pretty boy AGAIN? Plus, Gil was just so…personality-less. He just seemed like a big, dumb lunk.

And maybe I’m missing something, but what was the big deal about her dating Fabio? How would that affect how a guy would look at her? Did he feel threatened, or did he just think Fabio’s a huge cheeseball?
The whole thing was a bit of a yawn fest to me.
I don’t think it’s a really big deal that she picked Gil. I didn’t really think he was that pretty! The thing that annoyed me about Brian was his voice. And you are right, Gil was akin to a cardboard cut out of a person moreso than a real man.

As far as the Fabio thing, your guess is as good as mine. He just walked out into the sea as if she had told him she was really a man. I didn’t understand. If I’d been him, I would have laughed. I would have thought she was kidding, and then when I found out she wasn’t, I would have thought that she was obviously moving up in the world. (he couldn’t really be JEALOUS of Fabio, could he?)
It’s amazing to me that the “big secret” that had such an impact on the ending was one of Jay Leno’s talking points with Larissa and the two finalists last Friday. He just joked about it as though it were a bit of random trivia. Did anyone but me have a slight suspicion that the blonde mimbo’s reaction was to some other, heavier revelation, that they edited and replaced with the ridiculous “secret”? I just couldn’t see how someone could react the way he did.

Yes, that’s an interesting theory, arteitle. I couldn’t believe how goofy that “secret” was. I was only half-watching the show and came on here to see if I had understood it correctly, because it didn’t make any sense to me that such an issue would MATTER!
I guess you can’t predict what will matter to the dopey kind of folks who go on reality shows.

Maybe in some conversation, she had told him “I’m just a regular girl who has never been in the limelight before, and I came on this show to find true love…” (or something to that effect)…

Maybe she had said,“I’m on this show because I want more than just looks, I’m not the type to date a shallow meathead”
I can conceive of 3 scenarios in his head that would provoke that reaction
1)he felt betrayed by something she had said previously (like the above lines)
2)he was embarrassed that she said that on national TV, and did it to save face
3)he realized that he didn’t really love her or feel anything for her (she was the perfect girl, once that “idea” of her was shattered, he saw all the ways she wasn’t right for him, and thus cut her loose)

You could tell the way she kissed Brian that she wasn’t in love with him…but when she asked the other guy what he wanted out of the show…and he replied that he “wanted to be an actor”, it was pretty obvious that neither one was going to work.

Nah, the blonde guy is seen in a confessional complaining about Fabio being the guy on the romance novels, and saying, several times, something like, “Any guy in America would understand how I feel.” I, being an American man, can affirm that I have no idea whatsoever why Fabio being a former boyfriend would be bothersome. Or why she would think that it would bother a guy.

“What do you hope to get out of this?”, she asks. And he tells her,
“I want to be an actor”.

He he. He practically tells her he cares nothing for her, that he’s just using her to further his career. And he’s so dense that he cannot read her disappointed expression and keeps on talking about using the show to get a show business career. And she still picks him.

Gotta say the “secret” was underwhelming, but that it spoiled the dream date for both of them made it quite the upbeat ending for me.

<Nelson Muntz> HA ha! </Nelson Muntz>

While I’m pleased that he dumped the shallow bitch over it, I so don’t understand it in the least.

And it pissed me off that they picked her to do this in the first place, knowing that about her. She was already proven to have a fatal weakness for looks over substance, hardly seems fair.

I hope we see “The Return of Brian”.

I also wish they’d do this show with less than attractive guys who aren’t ALSO completely insecure and needy. Blatant insecurity is simply not very appealing on anyone. And yes, it is more than possible to be an average joe and have tons of charisma, personal magnetism, and be completely secure. Of course, guys like that don’t need to go on ridiculous reality shows.

LARISSA: I have a secret, Gil … I killed a guy once.

GIL: What?

LARISSA: Er, um … I mean, I used to date Fabio.

This is the only thing that could possible be funnier than the actual “reveal.”

Another American male checking in to say — bewildered — what the friggin’ hell!? I’ve never felt so clueless as my mind raced to find some shred of significance that I could assign to her having dated Fabio. No friggin’ idea.

I’m comforted that the soulless lying bitch got what she deserved, though. I hope Bryan will be okay. He’s a great guy.

Another WTF? checking in. Was the end of Average Joe sorta taking place in our time? Perhaps it was finished before the Leno interview and by that time everybody was reconciled (or at least bound by a non-disclosure agreement).

Well here’s my take on it.

I haven’t watched the show religiously but someone told me he wanted to be an actor. So maybe, whatever she would’ve said he would’ve dumped her. Just to be the guy who dumped the gorgeous girl on Average Joe Hawaii. Gives him somewhat of an edge, notoriety.

Then again, he could just be, as I suspect, a total goofball!!

The only reasonable explanation for this farce I can think of is this:

The show’s producers thought there would be a backlash from viewers because the hot girl picked the hot guy AGAIN! So they decided “hhmmm…lets have the hot guy dump her for blankity blank blank reason, then she’ll have her come-uppance in the viewers eyes and they’ll watch this stupid show again!”

Far fetched? Maybe but maybe not.

I don’t know what was funnier, billing the dating of Fabio as “a secret from her past” or the way manturd reacted to it. Manturd was totally uncomfortable with any kind of intimacy and used the fact that Larissa “had to tell him something about his past” as enough of a sign of betrayal to warrant being pissed. My guess is that he’s gay and just wanted on the show because he wanted to be an actor.

Last night really put the nail in the coffin of an average joe ever having a chance with the girl. Manturd and Larissa had anti-chemistry and Larissa’s leading on of Brian is utterly unforgivable.

If you mean her keeping him to the end, I don’t really blame her. It’s not like she had a choice to get rid of the average joes first. The show required her to dump average joes and hunks in equal number.

Okay, now that the show has aired, I don’t feel the need to continue with the spoiler boxes.

This show is the ultimate epitome of the term "failed experiment."

The whole point of “Average Joe” is to give you the impression that beautiful women will fall for the average guy over the hunky model. Since we’ve now done it twice, there’s no doubt that this hypothesis does not ring true. Both times, the woman in question did NOT choose the average guy. In fact, both times, the women have also afterward regretted their choice, but the choice was theirs to make, and they blew it.

Brian Worth strikes me as a fairly intelligent guy, and it wouldn’t shock me at all to know he was a lurking Doper. That said, he should have no trouble getting dates going forward. Just strike while the iron is hot, Boston.

I can’t watch any future installments of this show. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. You bastards won’t fool me a third time.

Preach it, brother/sister!

(And, BTW, if Brian is a Doper – we love you, man!)

that was the dumbest “twist” ever! She dated Fabio? So what? No wonder she can’t find a man of substance!!! If she’s dating shallow dumb people like Fabio!

Bah! I’m happy she didn’t pick him! Now Brian is free to give me a call!

Hi Brian!
