AVG Anti Virus

Every once in a while AVG will tell me a need to reboot to finish updating. When I reboot I get the message again. Oddly, if I ignore it usually the next day it will be OK.

I have AVG at work too and the setting *seem *to be the same for both…

Has anyone experienced this? Does anyone know what I need to do to stop it?

I have this problem on one of my machines, and not on the other 3 that run XP and AVG. For me, I get the notice that I have to reboot in order for AVG to start working again (the icon turns gray and the Update Manager turns red) and it just sits there waiting for me to reboot.

I read in an AVG forum somewhere that you should go to Control Center - Update Manager - Settings (button) - Advanced (tab) and click the “Delete Temporary Files” button, reboot, and it won’t happen again.

If I take those steps, AVG does go back to running normally (icon turns back to color, Update manager goes green) but it continues to happen from time to time. One time I got it to stop for about a month but it’s back again now and I have to delete the temporary files to get it working again.

I’ve been too lazy to look into it any further.

Thanks! That seems to have fixed it.
