Avril Lavinge.. Lavigne.. she, anyway..

…is everything that’s wrong with our society today! I swear! “Sk8er boi”… :smack:

Umm yeah

You know, at the risk of feeding the troll, what’s up with all this Avril Lavinge bashing? I, a 25 year old hispanic male, happen to like Skater Boy. I haven’t really heard anything else from her because she doesn’t get much air time on the station I listen to but Skater Boy is an OK song. It isn’t a classical masterpiece, but then neither is the other 99% of crap they play on the radio.

You say that while Brittney Spears still walks the earth???

How do you pronounce Lavigne, anyway?

It’s pronounced La - Veen

I really love the song, and think the lyrics are great, except for the “can I make it any more obvious?” Somehow that part just sounds crapola, like they couldn’t think of anything else to fit.

Besides which, “she was a girl, he was a boy” isn’t obvious at all.

What if he was gay?

One of the things that I like about Avril Lavigne is that she has her own style. Looking at her on the cover of one of my magazines, her makeup wasn’t overdone, and she wasn’t wearing skanky clothing. I think this is a great attribute, and I admire the fact that she really does her own thing.

Coming up next: Lavigne’s cover of "The Breakup Song (They Don’t Write Em). :stuck_out_tongue:

the reason I don’t like her:

she is highly Un-original and Un-interesting!
Infact she is as BORING as they come.

My god people, THINK!

Okay, so what pop music isn’t?

You can throw anything against her that you like… “she’s not a real punk and she’s ugly, unoriginal, uninspired, hypocritical, manufactured, gay, stupid” whatever… what it all boils down to is that I (and/or others) like her music. Her image means nothing to me and so long as she doesn’t molest puppies or something, I could care less what she does in her personal life.

He was a boy. She was a girl… can I make it any more obvious? He was a punk. She did ballet… what more can I say . .

I’m not a fan, but I’ve never understood the sheer amount of hate that gets directed towards this girl. Yeah, her music’s not very good, but it’s not the worst thing that gets played on the radio these days, by FAR. To hear some people talk, it’s like she personally comes to their high school every day and pees in their applesauce. Or she single-handedly killed Joe Strummer and has it out for the rest of the old school as well.

It’s starting to seem like hating Avril is another requirement for belonging to a certain clique, and it’s moving beyond the bizarre into the sickening.

I don’t get it either

‘Sk8r Boi’ is a change from the usual ballad-dreck that inhabits the top 10 in the UK, and I like it far too much.

“He wasn’t good enough for her!”

My kids (10 and 8 years old) like her. That “Skater Boy” song came on the radio this morning when I was driving them to school, and I asked them if this was “Afro Levine.” They laughed hysterically and swore to tell all their friends. I don’t really find her interesting enough to love or hate.

Boo-yahah. Of all the current pop-queens out there she’s the only one I wouldn’t mind my sister dressing like.

I think she sucks. The music isn’t what I don’t like. It sounds no better or worse than anything else on TRL to me, but she just comes off as a poseur. The dresses like the Sex Pistols, but talks like Alanis Morrisette. I still think she’s hot though.

Now that John Mayer character, his music is truly loathsome.

I have no issue with her songs - but I made the mistake of reading the liners notes to the cd. Now THAT is depressing.

Hear Hear!

i was at the record store 1 day and looking at some stuff. an 8 year old girl w/ her dad points out avril’s cd and says “that’s avril lavigne. she’s tough!”
i personally don’t really like her music, it’s not my bag. my only true complaint about her is that one of my friends dresses like her and claims to be something she’s not. posing just drives me nuts!

I think she needs to wear clothes a little less often.
