aw! poor wittle Donald had his feelings hurt by those mean jokes [Trump out of 2012 race]

Sounds like the Donald is pulling out, because he just can’t take the vicious [del]insults[/del] jokes that have been coming his way since he started inching towards a presidential run: Trump says public scorn greater than he expected.

Being in the media can be tough, but the White House Correspondents Dinner? Who doesn’t love a roast?

His poll numbers have been collapsing. I hope we won’t have to deal with him in the rest of the primaries.

Especially in retrospect, when the President was joshing Trump about choosing whether to fire Meatloaf or Gary Busey, and ended up firing Busey. Obama’s comment: “You know, those are the kind of decisions that would keep me up at night.”

This from the man who had given the “go” order on the bin Laden hit, and knew it was going down in the next day or so.

I was going to start a thread asking “what excuse will Trump use for not running for President?”. I don’t think he ever intended to really run, but he’s talked about it enough now that he’ll have to come up with some half-assed reason why he isn’t taking the plunge.

Looks like “Seth Meyers made fun of my hair” might be the excuse he chooses.

Donald Rump quit faster than Palin. Seems the Repubs want to dish out criticism but can not take it themselves.
The opponents weren’t saying nice things to me. Wahhhhh

Thus showing how out of touch he is with the real world. No-one who paid the slightest attention could have been in any such doubt. Good riddance; imagine what he would have been like as president when the Chinese or Taliban came a-callin’ ? Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, you’re being unfaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaair to me!

Mind you Obama’s put up with more of this in any given week of his presidency than the Trumplet has in his lifetime.

Wait… he’s honestly complaining about getting eaten at the White House Correspondent’s dinner? That’s practically what it’s MADE for.

I’d be surprised to hear that anyone didn’t expect this at some point. He never had any intention to run. Didn’t NBC just renew his show for next season?

The joke is on us. Trump knew exactly what he was doing. Look, he’s in the news every single day. Free promotion. Mission accomplished.

Absolutely. And our fine news media went right along with his plan, as they have all along. Sometime in the 80s his REAL line of business became about keeping the Trump name in the headlines (so then he can charge more for things with the Trump name on them).

Bullshit. If he expected adoration and is disappointed to find out nobody takes him seriously, good, but I expect he got just what he wanted out of this: the publicity that comes with running for president without any of the hard work like coming up with a platform or making any serious decisions. It’s not just that he was never going to run; he was never a serious candidate and by the end he was not even trying - that thing about gay marriage and newfangled putters? Come on. He was clearly not making an effort because he’d realized the news would cover any idiotic thing he said. He should never have received a fraction of the airtime he received. And none of this would have been possible if NBC han’t kept quiet about his Apprentice contract. They kept the status of the show quiet because if they’d been open about it, everybody would have understood he had no intention to leave the show and was just doing this to feed his ego and perhaps his ratings. To that end, it looks like he failed. He’s shameless, but just about everyone else involved with this disgraced themselves.

Wait, he didn’t expect to get hammered so hard? By the guy who’s biggest campaign issue was questioning where the president was born?

I’d like to credit this to Seth Meyers and his nice work at the correspondents’ dinner, but the truth is that the bin Laden killing made it impossible for the press to pretend it could take Trump seriously. I was talking about this with somebody recently and compared Trump’s “candidacy” to the Chandra Levy story after September 11th. (Not to belittle her murder, but the salacious Gary Condit side of things, at least, is comparable.) There was just no way for major news programs to spend time every day on the killing of Osama bin Laden and everything that went with it, and then transition to coverage of Trump saying Obama wasn’t born in the U.S. or that his college grades were bad. So to that end, this is one of the minor benefits of Obama authorizing the bin Laden raid.

Nothing new here. Just another conservative playing the victim card.

If he gave a rat’s ass about public scorn he’d have gotton a haircut years ago.

Looks like he forgot Voltaire’s quote : This animal is dangerous, when attacked it defends itself

I remember how much crap Bill Clinton was getting in the late spring of 1992, after he’d locked up the nomination but was running behind both Bush Sr. and Perot in the polls.

Clinton dealt with it, and won. Trump is obviously not ready for prime time, from a political perspective.

So did the ratings for The Apprentice actually go up after the Donald started making presidential bid noises?

Post story here.

I will miss the comedy material.

Well at least he’s humble about it.
