I’m about to give up on this. It’s turned into a pretty typical cop drama. It’s always the 3rd guy they interview who did it. (Well, not always, but I think you get my drift.)
The acting is OK, but I can’t get all that interested in the two different world aspects other than as a gimmick for a cop show.
I’m still digging it. It took me a while to get over the fact that there was an omniscient presence bringing us scenes that the lead wasn’t in, even though one of these realities was supposedly the guy’s dream world.
I’ve even begun to warm up to the conspiracy sub-plot with the mysterious goon.
I guess going in I was hoping for more of a focus on his adjustment to the two realities without so much crime drama-- more psychological drama, less cop stuff. But I’m still watching.
Gave up after the first episode. Interesting premise but I just don’t see how they can sustain it, and I’m too busy to sign for another hourlong show. Hope you all enjoy it.
We watched the first four or five shows and started to see the endless repetition and realized we really didn’t care which life was “real” and which was a dream - and so we dropped it from the DVR list. Seemed like a good idea at the time, but the show sort of got stuck in a rut rather quickly.
I am liking it. I was hoping they were going to pivot away form the whole Conspiracy thing but alas no, still, it is good. Probably doomed though, ratings are poor from what I understand.
I was going to stop watching until they introduced the villain who hinted that he too might be able to move between worlds.
And being an Oregonian I like that one world might center around Portland. That would make three shows now featuring Portland.
And I never had a problem with conspiracy behind his crash. Without things like the conspiracy and world hopping bad guy it’s just a cop show in two realities with some clues crossing over between worlds. That in-and-of itself isn’t enough to hold my interest.
And even though it might be realistic, I didn’t care for the conflicts between Michael and his son or between Michael and Vega. But those have been toned down or mostly gone away.
I watched the first two and a half episodes then gave up. I kind of liked the premise, but none of the characters seemed very interesting. It sure as shit doesn’t have a Dr. House type character to carry the show through slow episodes. Also I despise procedural cop or “magic detective” type shows, which this was quickly turning into.
I’m watching, though I’m waiting for the twist that turns it into a show that can last multiple seasons. So far it’s meandering on that front, and feels like it is heading for a finale already.
The episode where they introduced the serial killer blew it for me. It was switching away from what made the show interesting (the juggling the two timelines and dealing with grief) and adding the same type of plot we’ve been seeing on TV over and over and over and over again. I watched last week, but then the went with the second annoying cliche – a secret conspiracy against the hero.
Basically, they took everything that was original about the premise and got cold feet and decided to add some cliched situations.
This only starts in the UK around about now, so I have no ideas but it sounds, from some people here, like there might be enough going to at least start watching and see where it goes.
I really liked the pilot and raved about it to other people. Then at the end of the second episode they introduced the unseen forces schtick and I immediately lost interest.
I agree about the conspiracy and serial killer angles putting me off. Why does every investigative show have to do these cliches?
I gave up on Body of Proof right before (a) the epidemic scare that infects the staff, and (b) the season finale where the killer goes to the Medical Examiner’s office to attack Megan Hunt.
Can’t we have a show that explores the stress of the dual life and keeps us guessing about how it works, without having to beat us over the head with twogimmicks? But hey, I like MotW/CofW plots.
I haven’t watched last weeks’ yet. Will see if I get tired of it soon.
