They rock plain and simple. Just picked my wife up from the airport where she got back from a week in D.C. She said there was a HUGE rally in front of the white house for Obama that night. We got a lot of cool newspapers and mags from her trip, but these photos are amazing.
They are just fantastic people, what a good looking family!
Those are some great pics! I, too, am struck at the family vibe coming off of the Obamas. My daughter was looking at the pics with me, ad the first thing she said was “Momma, you can really tell how much they love each other, can’t you?”
I’m a little weepy (again) right now too.
Okay, Michelle’s dress makes a lot more sense now–it looks much better when she’s being more natural. Standing ramrod-straight in front of the entire tv-watching population of the planet, not so good.
I love this one. They look like they’re about to pop out of a tunnel to thundering applause, ready to get a good god damn load of work done.
Great find.
This one is one that really says “presidential” to me. Maybe a little trite, but I find it a very inspiring picture.
And this one is probably the first photo I’ve ever seen of a candidate actually voting. I want a poster.
Really? She’s a mighty fine looking woman, but I always felt her eyebrows were always waxed a bit too thin.
It’s not from any election night photoset, but for those who want some Mac action: here is an awesome Mac/Pacman/“Damn straight I’m gonna win this thing” threesome.
Awesome. Whose profile is in that photograph on his desk?
Wild guess is MLK.
Could be, in looking over at pics of MLK, I notice that they have the same haircut (not only the head in the photo, but Obama as well). In looking over the election night photos, I realized that not only is Michelle color coordinated with the girls, but that Barack matches as well. His suit is black, and he’s got a red tie on.
NinjaChick, thanks for the pick. I emailed the link to my friend (with the URL carefully disguised so he wouldn’t know what he was getting until the page loaded) and haven’t heard anything from him about it, but I’m betting he’s now vigourously scrubbing his monitor, trying to clean the Obama off of it.
I love these photographs. LOVE them!
Thank you for this link NinjaChick, so many great shots! I hadn’t seen most of them, and this one nearly made me faint in awe!
I still can’t quite process the fact that we’re going to have this man as our president. Intelligent, articulate, knowledgeable, curious, caring, concerned, decent, a wonderful husband, a wonderful father, a reader, a nerd, damned good looking, and COOL!
Nerdness he does have - Leonard Nimoy revealed on an episode of the NPR radio show “Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me” that Pres-Elect Obama had done the Vulcan hand signal to him at a political event.
Thisis still my favorite photo of them.
Oh shush, cmyk. So my boss happened to be holding a Mac.
Well…looks at date my former boss now.
LOUNE, I had trouble with your link. I found the photo on this site however. It’s a very good candid, I agree.
The picture I was referring to is the picture of the Obamas on their wedding night, shoes off, and crumpled in a heap on a bench.
Breaking news: According to the Telegraph, our next president is indeed a Mac user.
With bonus old-timey pick of Obama which makes him look flat-out Brobdingnagian.
Much! Sorry for getting the wrong one. The girls weren’t even thought about back then.
That’s not quite true. He had quit by the time the primary campaign started, and was given a clean bill of health by his physician. He picked the habit back up during the stressful campaign. Can you blame him?
This is my favourite. Just an old married couple, sitting and watching tv together.
Michelle really is beautiful, and that dress does look better when you see it closer up. I love that Michelle looks like a real woman, not a whip-thin Barbie doll. She looks like a woman who has had two kids, a political husband, and could kick my ass without breaking a sweat.
My girlfriend drove 3 or so hours to come visit me and help with the election in Indiana. She definitely voted for Barack, but she’s been becoming a little more enthusiastic afterwards and this first half-week back. The news that Barack has read all the Harry Potter books might send her off the deep end. She’ll be embroiled in all things Barack.
Cute story: she also hovered around me when Sean Astin visited the office. I think she had a nerdgasm then.
No, no, no. Not so much at all.
