There’s this new AXE deoderant commercial where a guy is being chased by dogs, he cleans using AXE and washes off in a swimming pool. There is this music/rap in the background that is pretty cool. Who does that? Is there such a genre as Latin hard-rock/rap? If so, anybody have recommendations for good groups?
Latin or Latino?
I know at least one Latino Rock Rap group called Molotov. Their songs have been used on a lot of soundtracks and they do an incredible cover of Bohemian Rhapsody.
There’s a genre called Rock en Español–bands in Mexico & other countries to the south playing US (or International) Style rock. Mexico’s Cafe Tacuba is my favorite–not terribly “hard” but they do some spoken word. Witty lyrics even to this gringa–with a bit of traditional Mexican instrumentation. Perhaps others here will chime in with their faves.
Some US bands also qualify. It’s a pretty loose category.
Check out LA’s own Ozomatli. Listen to Dos Cosas Ciertas off of Embrace The Chaos, and you will be hooked.
