Axl Rose

I thought this song was pretty good, but yeah, it was a total non-factor as far as radio was concerned. I think most non-GnR hardcores never even knew they had a new song at all.

Lockfist, I saw a close-up picture of Axl, from one of the links on this thread, the face looks like Dave Mustaine with red braids.

I have always loved Dave Mustaine and Megadeth, I hate Guns & Roses and Axl, I was busting on Axl, not Dave.

I was being sarcastic! Guns and Roses wishes they have a singer/songwriter like Dave Mustaine.

Yeah. Dave Mustaine. What a crooner.

The other original members of the band either quit or were fired by Axl, depending on who you talk to. The only other “original” member is keyboardist Dizzy Reed, who joined the band during the Use Your Illusion sessions.

Having watched Guns entire performance from the VMA’s this afternoon, I don’t think it was all that bad. They got a good review in the NYTimes!!

As far as Axl’s voice sounding too high, well, he does have a pretty good vocal range, and it has been a little less then 10 years since they released any new material, so I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I’m with WSLer. Axl’s out of practice, that’s all. There was a very flattering article about him in the Globe and Mail last Saturday, so yeah, I’ll be first in line on the Umpteenth of Never when Chinese Democracy comes out.

Forget Axel and whoever else is in Guns.

Gimme Izzy! I want a new record. There’s the talent behind GNR.

Ever wonder why Guns haven’t released anything original since Izzy left back in 92’???

Out of practice, out of something, like breathe.

Any band knows when you’ve been on hiatus, as GnR has been, and your going to do a big deal performance, like the MTV VMA’s was, you need to practice. Cause if you sound horrendous, like Axl was, your going to get busted for it, like he is.

I’ve never been a fan, but I have listened to Appetite for Destruction, and Use You Illusion, and I was surprised at the vocal ability of Axl.

He should have taken voice and breathe control training, just to get himself back, because the singing on Welcome to the Jungle, is extreme on your voice and your breathe control.

Didn’t Izzy form his own band, something like Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds?

Why can’t Mustaine play guitar anymore?

We all know Axl is a major jackass. As for his voice-um, when did he ever have a decent voice? It was always cracking, because he was always screaming.

Yeah, what’s up with the Mustaine rumour I see here?

Dave Mustaine injured his hand/arm really bad, nerve damage and is rehabilitating, he is not sure if he will be able to play guitar, as a result he left Megadeth and the group has disbanded.

To me the link I saw of Axl Rose, looked like Dave Mustaine with red braids, I said that in jest.

Good god, you’re right.

From here:

Funny how he doesn’t say how he sustained the injuries. Usually, it’s a motorbike crash in this line of work.

I think Axl was nervous. He didn’t look like he was concentrating on his singing very much and instead was running around the stage. He kept fiddling with his ear monitor which probably wasn’t working right or he wasn’t used to using it. All that combined with the whole “comeback” thing would of made anyone a nervous wreck.

Did anyone else think his hair is looking a little fake these days? Or is it still popular to wear a bandanna like that?

It always looked fake, I don’t know who’s hair looked more fake Axl Rose or Davis Lee Roth, YUCK.

That should be David Lee Roth, damn keyboard.

Yeah, rumor has it that he was in rehab and tried to off himself, again…

I’m not one to believe rumors but based on the circumstances after his injury he sure isnt helping to quell the speculation.

Intaglio, okay I understand. I’m so used of people panning on Mustaine I got a little defensive.

FYI, the remaining members of Megadeth (Dave Jr., Jimmy, and Al) along with former guitarist Marty Friedman are rumored to be starting a new band which would be very cool to hear. No singer was named as of yet. And in other Megadeth news, Sanctuary are dropping a Megadeth retrospective cd with live tracks from their non-Sanctuary album and 5-6 songs from TWNAH. I’ll pass on that.

Justis and Electra?

People, stop slagging off Axl Rose! I saw him and Guns’n’Roses at their London appearance, and they were bloody amazing. That Buckethead guy is brilliant, and Axl’s voice sounds as weird as it did ten years ago. He’s always had a strange voice. Nobody normal says “Shanananananana-KNEEEEES!”. A few of my friends saw them at the Leeds festival and thought they were great too.
Essentially, we should all be greatful that they’re back. I really hope that Chinese Democracy will mark the beginning of the return of rock and the end of that electronic boy band crap that we’ve been subjected to for a decade.
Keep up the good work Axl.

All about Buckethead (Brian Carroll) right here–but no picture.

Well maybe Axl was jet-lagged, he may have sounded good in England, but in New York City he sounded terrible. He SUCKED ASS, America has always been critical of Guns & Roses, especially Axl. His performance did not win over the people here.

Lockfist, I like Dave Mustaine, and Megadeth, too.

I saw a clip of “Diamond Dave” at the VMA’s…his hair is laughable.

Actually, he is laughable. It’s really sad to say that but it’s true.

Please, Dave, for the love of all that is unholy, STOP!!! trying to be something that you haven’t been for 15 years, namely a hip-with it, happening cool dude.

Dave has a nice big bald spot happening now.

As for Axl’s hair, I could give a rats ass. Dylan looked like a jackass with that mustahce he was sporting on his last album, but the music was worth listening to, most of the time.

Guinastasia,

/Ed McMahon/

You are correct, sir!!!

Izzy formed the Ju-Ju hounds and released 3 albums after leaving Gn’R, but allmusic.com only has info about the 1st 2.
