[b]Alice_in_Wonderland, you can't be serious

I think that was what he was referring to the first time.

Bush is not such an idiot that he would let Canada get invaded, even to “punish” them for opposing the Iraq War. Even if Canada deserved it (like they unprovokedly nuked Shanghai and Moscow and China and Russia were out for revenge) the US would probably stop the invasion(while also kicking some idiot Canadian PM butt)

I’ll have you know I have no cowboy hat OR boots. Okay, I do like beef and barbequeing, though. Mmmmm, propane.

You know, Boo Boo, I’ve often wondered about that. Seems to me like it would be hard for a nation trying to conquer Canada to even find us Canadians should we take to the hills. Maybe that’s what we should be concentrating on - developing our guerilla warfare tactics.

So, we should pull out of the UN and NATO and quit sending foreign aid around the world until we’re doing well economically and socially? I think that would be a rather interesting proposition to have to pitch to the world.

To answer the rest of your post: You really have no idea what I’m talking about, do you? I never once mentioned the Second Iraq War. I was against it, in fact. But that doesn’t fit into your little mental model of me, so therefore it Doesn’t Exist. It Isn’t True, in your mind. I also think we should leave Iraq right now if not three months ago and let the region heal over. It isn’t in our best interests to nation-build, simply because we always fuck it up. The only nation the US ever built right was the US.

Once again, my point: The world acts in its own self-interest 100% of the time. This is how the US acts, as well. If Canada was to be invaded, the US’s self interest would dictate that we repel that invasion and render the source of that invasion harmless.

It’s funny that some people would think that there’s a chance the Bush admin wouldn’t come to Canada’s defense.

If they were attacked the tanks would roll and the jets would launch.

It’s getting those tanks and planes out of Canada AFTER the war was over that would be the big problem.

Because I thought you were bright enough to see it the first time – especially since everyone else did. Guess I’ll have to revise my assessment of you accordingly.

Iraq may have more oil than Canada but the US imports almost four times as much from the latter as it does from the former. Why exactly would we not want to invade a neighboring country (as opposed to one on the other side of the world) if oil was the only reason we waged war?

Too bad you didn’t.

Apparently now that they have technologies that allow the oilsands to be exploited they can start booking reserves. Current technology allows production at $10 a barrel. So, as long as the price of oil stays above that level then it is viable.
Interesting in that we could replace North America’s need for middle eastern oil entirely.
I’m predicting Alberta will be tax and debt free within ten years. And most likely a separate country within 20 years when the federal government tries to pick our pockets again with a new NEP when they see us raking in the cash.

Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers
Reserves for Alberta
Alberta listed #2 in oil reserves in the World

And I’m sure that fact will change now that Saddam is no longer in control and Haliburton is.

Nope, nope, nope. I’m not one of the funny boots an’ hats crowd either.

Oh, get over it, for God’s sake. That happened 20 goddamned years ago. I swear, some of you Albertans are worse whiners than the BQ.

Well, when you send us a check for the amount stolen I’d think about it. But this really is another thread.
