I think all the baby pigeons are living outside my dining room window. A couple of pigeons began building a nest on top of a cable box out there a few months ago, and have been having babies since. First, there were a couple of eggs. How cute is that. Then after losing one egg, the little survivor was born. Mom was extremely attentive, and rarely left the nest until about a month later when Jr. had grown to be as big as she was, and she got squeezed out of the nest. Once he flew away, mom came back and laid 2 more eggs. Both hatched and we thought they would knock eachother out of the nest. They reach adult size pretty quickly. Once they learned to fly, mom was back again. Only now, there are 4 eggs!!! The big surprise turned out to be that Mom, Dad, and the 2 new overgrown babies seem to be taking turns sitting on the eggs. We assumed that since Jr., the first baby, flew the coop immediately after learning to fly, the 2 new pigeons would too. Instead, they have become willing babysitters! So, we now have 4 adult pigeons, and 4 on the way! I told you all the baby pigeons are living outside my dining room window!

I had pigeons at my apartment in London, Ontario - 8th floor. I had my balcony furniture wrapped up in a tarpaulin in the corner and at some time between the start of nesting season and James-unwrap-your-furniture-so-you-can-sit-outside season, a pair made their nest in the sheltered corner.
Horrid, messy birds! By the time the young were big enough that I felt no compunction about chasing them all off with a broom, half the balcony was covered. I was thinking about obtaining a permit for a guano mine as a source of extra income, but decided I just didn’t want to touch the stuff.
The worst part was that they decided they liked the accomodation provided and returned the next spring, despite my efforts to pigeon-proof the site.

My apartment complex has pigeons, too. I’ve seen a female nesting on nothing more than a pile of pellets of dried pigeon droppings. And I’ve seen the male pecking the female half to death just to get her to “bond” with him.
Pigeons are not nice.
