I saw one! I saw a pigeon nest!

The Column.

A search on the topic brought up a topic only as recent as April, 2001, so I thought I’d start a new one.

I saw a pigeon nest on top of and behind a backlit sign for a parking garage at an office complex. They really ARE “small, flimsy nests, barely large enough to hold Mother Pigeon’s usual two eggs.” The pigeons sit in there pretty awkwardly too; the one I saw looked like it was about to fall out.

For a while there was a pigeon’s nest on the balcony of my parents’ apartment. I could stand right next to it any time I wanted, and could easily touch the mother if she hadn’t gotten all agitated. She would stand and face me aggressively, and then I could see the eggs.

I’ve seen two pigeon nests on my balcony. One was basically a pile of twigs. The other was just a pile of dried pellets of their droppings. Nature can be so beautiful.

There’s a wood pigeon nest somewhere on my roof.
