Back By Popular Demand! The Fall 2015 Postcard Exhange

I got a postcard yesterday from Ravensthief showing Moschops at Dinosaur Land! My 5-yr old nephew is soooooooo jealous! Thanks, Ravensthief!

I don’t know if Moschops is his given name or his species name…

It looks like the cards I sent won’t get there until next week. Darn, I was hoping the ones sent to the US addresses would arrive before the three day weekend.

Three-day weekend?

Monday is Columbus Day, so no mail delivery.

Time to fess up. I still haven’t mailed mine. :frowning:

I’m so sorry. You have my word that I will drop them in the box today.

I have received so far:

A cute honeybee from Anaglyph
A beautiful pic of a Gettyburg battlefield at sunset from Elendil’s Heir
A pretty waterfront pic of San Diego from RollOutTheBarrel
A pic of Nubble Light House in Maine from davida03801 - It made me homesick, when I lived in Boston, we went up to York Beach almost every month.
A pic of the Norwich University football team of 1911 from Vermont from davida03801

Because I am so late, I will send 2 postcards to each person on my list.

Well, one of them made it…I got your “Kansas Sunset” card yesterday. Thanks!

Glad you like it, there should be another coming, I sent two to all the addresses.

Saturday I got the Sather Tower birthday card from Karen Lingel. And yesterday I got home to find seven cards in my mailbox!

Two from DavidA03801, one showing a 1911 photograph of the Norwich University Football Team, the second showing Nubble Light House at York beach in Maine.

Another two from Baker: Seelye Mansion in Abilene, Kansas, and a glass sculpture of the USS Constitution by artist Mitsuki Ohno.

From Whiskey Dickens I got an impressive view of Niagara Falls with a ferris wheel in the foreground (this view), from** Raventhief** two dinosaurs fighting (those two, viewed from the other side).

From Ulf the Unwashed I got a view of Brooklyn Bridge in New York.

That you for all the lovely cards! I could easily get used to find friendly greeting in my mailbox, in addition to the usual bills and junk mail!

I got 4 beautiful postcards!! Thanks a lot to everybody who sent them to me! They arrived together at basically the same time.

Thank you, IvoryTowerDenizen, dbygawdcapn, Algher and Anaglyph!

Just got home from work and got three beautiful cards, all showing capitol buildings! One from jayrey of the Third Capitol in Salem, OR, which looks very spectacular and impressive, and two of the awesome dome of the Kansas Capitol in Topeka from Baker. This dome reminded me of the one of St. Paul’s Cathedral in London which I never saw myself, but I watched a documentary about its construction not long ago and it’s similar. And both wrote me that they work or live, respectively, in sight of the buildings. A nice coincidence. Thanks to both of you.

I’m dropping in to tell Baker that her cards got to me on Saturday! Seelye Mansion and Kansas Museum of History! I would love to visit these some day!

I received a card from jayrey of a carousel horse that was named for a Native American tribe.

Today’s mail brought me a postcard from Anaglyph of the Rose Window in the cathedral at Reims. Much coolness. We studied that window for a bit in my AP Euro classes.

I forgot to post that I got a card from Karen Lingel on Saturday! Lovely pic of Souther Tower! Thanks!

I got a card from Cheez_Whia. It’s a picture of the narrow gauge Silverton/Durango railroad in Colorado.

I’ve never ridden it but my parents did once, and I know the Colorado mountains. Dad loved vacations in nature, the national parks and such.

Is it still true that there’s a law against picking wild columbines in Colorado? I remember once seeing a whole field of them.

I would imagine so; Blue Columbine is the State flower.

Baker, I got two before the long weekend, too, but wasn’t online to report them. I loved the “Home on the Range” cabin and I think buffalo is delicious, too.

Also got a sweet “Thanks” card from Anaglyph, who says she appreciates the opportunity we’ve given her to clean out her postcard stash. I suspect she’s happy to clean it out just to have an excuse to buy more. That’s certainly how it works with me!

I also got TWO delightful cards from JoseB from the faraway (for me) Netherlands. I’m so envious that you got to go to Venice recently, JoseB.

davida03801 sent me two cards: one of the Nubble Light lighthouse (I love lighthouses) and another of the 1911 Norwich University (Maine) football squad. Handsome bunch of young men! Thanks, david!

Honey, don’t feel too bad about not mailing all your postcards yet. I’m still working on mine, too. I just thinking of it as drawing out the pleasure . . .

He sent them to me, too. Just got 'em yesterday. Thanks, david!

Well… the deadline was in your OP, after all. I’m sure people would rather not have to wait while others have already done what they agreed to do and sent out their postcards timely.

Received two cards so far!

One from Anaglyph of the Dallas skyline at night, with a dramatic bolt of lighting, and the caption “DALLAS IS ELECTRIFYING!” Like thisbut with lightning. Cool 90’s themed card and font, I wonder how old it is?
Another from raventhief showing two dinosaurs smooching at the Dinosaur Park! Similar to the one that Anaglyph received and linked to. Great stuff, love the shot.

I received a postcard from BeeGee today: an antique postcard from “WALK UNDER WATER” which looks like a couple of aquariums in someone’s basement. (BeeGee pointed out the ashtray!)

BeeGee, I agree with you – the provenance of this postcard is fascinating. Bill Eldridge of Kerrville, Texas must have saved all the postcards Dad ever sent him, and when he died his kids were all “WTF?” and sold boxes of his junk to antique dealers or flea markets or whatever. Now I have a postcard from Jan 8, 1951 of this strange fish-walk place. It’s like time-traveling and being dumped in a random place and time. Thank you!
