OYKW surprised me! When he got here he told me he had talked with the guy who does the yahd stuff at his irk and asked him if he could come mow da cave yahd. The guy (three of 'em actually) showed up right after four o’clock and had it all mowed, edged and cleanded up in thirty minutes. YAY! I am well pleased with the results. I asked OYKW just what brought this on and he said he knew I’d be tahrd and he was tahrd so he figured it’d be worth some bucks to get da yahd mowed. Yeah, I’m way too cheap to hire someone but he paid so it’s all good.
Dude, calm yourself. It’s beer, for crying out loud.
That boy, I say, that boy is not the sharpest stick in the pile.
Pizza was yum. Leftovers for breakfast tomorrow. yay!
The sun is back out - we got about 12 raindrops. We need some serious rain.
I think it’s time to recline the night away.
MWAH!
We had a twenty minute downpour just now. I would have been out mowin’ when it started if not for OYKW. I suppose I shall need to show my “appreciation.”
Appreciation is always a good thing.
Swampy. That was very nice of OYKW to get your yard mowed. I left irk a little early and came home a had a nap.
Thank Goodness tomorrow is Firday! And it’s a 3 day weekend for me. I have plans to go to the beach on Moanday if the weather is good.
OK. Off to forage something to eat. No cooking here tonight.
What can I say? I can be had for a freshly mowed yahd.
Back from work and a beer:30 after work. Another of the original crew is leaving us. He found a job in the field he’s actually trained for at like 5 times the money. Can’t blame him much for jumping at it but I will miss him.
And I’m short of page four.
Well,I’m cooking dinner tonight. Chipolte BBQ chicken ,orange ancho rice, and green beans with onion, peppers, and ham.
Ruble, I’d switch for 5x the cash. Hockey tailgating ain’t cheap.

Excellent play by play this is…
“the roof, the roof, the roof is on fire!”
Nice Bloodhound Gang reference.
I’m not even sure WHERE to start on the day I’ve had.
Late for work because the train I was on was involved in a minor mishap with a pedestrian. So far as my info goes, the train had nearly stopped before bonking someone who walked out in front of it. TTBOMK, no serious injuries there.
One bit of good news in a day that otherwise left a lot to be desired: Attitude Kid ceases to be my problem after tomorrow. He’s being moved to another department with hopefully less customer interaction.
Then, I’m on my way from work to school, at a satellite campus, when the school’s emergency notifications start hitting my phone. There was a shooting on the main campus. One dead, two injured, suspect still at large, as of last updates.
Tomorrow’s gotta be easier on the nervous system, right?
(((((Nettie))))), that sounds like a rough day indeed, here’s hoping your Friday is much calmer.
I was a poor exhausted person last night, went home and phoned the doting parent for a chat, then did a load of laundry (got to keep up with mooooom, right?) and then did all my ironing before my beloved made dinner.
After that, we were settling down to watch a couple of episodes of something but he fell asleep and I was not far off myself so I put on a couple of things we’re not all that bothered about and tried to stay half-awake until bedtime. Even so, I didn’t sleep all that well as a certain feline madam kept waking me us. I was still asleep when the alarm went off this morning too, and that is unusual for me. So today, although there’s no reason for it, I feel slightly out of sorts.
Still, it’s Friday, I can leave a bit early and I am off to the gym tonight - that should soon sort me out!
Doesn’t seem to matter if I go to bed early, our usual time, or late - I still wake up around the same time, whether I have to or not. Between the coughing and the dog fussing to get out of her crate, I don’t stand a chance of sleeping in.
But I’ve got the dishwasher loaded and running, and I’m finishing a breakfast of leftover pizza, so there’s that. No clue what else the day holds. We need to go to the gym and get our new passes - we rejoined starting this month, and with both of us working, we need to figure out when we’ll go. It’ll have to be on the way home from work, otherwise we’ll never go. Dang, being employed requires discipline - I forgot about that part. dammit.
We’re promised a not-too-hot weekend, with heat returning next week. It’s September, dagnabbit - it should be cooling down a bit!! I am not pleased with the temperatures! I demand autumn!! <tantrum>
OK, so Happy Firday.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 74 Amurrkin with a predicted high of 94 for the day. There’s a pretty good chance of rain tomorrow. We shall see.
No big plans today. We are havin’ N.O.L. at Ryan’s [del]hog trough[/del] buffet. After that we’re goin’ to the grocery sto’ to get some stuff. At some point I shall make N.O.T. sallit. No huge Labor Day plans are in store. If’n the rain holds off tomorrow the plan is for cee-mint pond time with a few invitated folks followed by grilled burgers with all the fixin’s, N.O.T. sallit and chawklit cake. I shall bake the cake at some point today as well.
That’s the excitatement from da cave. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, who knows!
Happy Firday Y’all!
ETA: {{{Nettie}}} here’s hopin’ for a better today.
Up, caffeinated, working closing shift. Last chance for me to watch practice today.
School started here Aug. 13. When/where I was growing up it never started before Labor Day. A huge part of that was having enough available labor to get through the summer.
Well, I found out why my retirement pay continues to be shorted - the statement I sent this year of last year’s earning never got where I sent it, so as far as they were concerned, I still earned too much last year. I got an email from OPM telling me to mail proof of earnings - via SNAIL MAIL!!! But I’m a rebel and I scanned my W2 and emailed it back. We shall see if anything comes of it. So far, they owe me $1400, and it’ll be $700 each month they drag this out.
I’ll just look at it as an enforced savings account, but I want my money, dammit! Unfortunately, having dealt with pay issues several times in my gummint career, I know this won’t be a quick-n-easy fix, especially since it involves them owing me. Had it been the other way around, they’d be reimbursing themselves with all due haste. We’re just lucky that the loss of that income didn’t put us out of our house or anything. I can see it causing a big problem for some.
What’s really aggravating is that I sent my original inquiry on July 31 - it took over a month for them to reply! Gotta love bureaucracy!
