I never went back to school before Labor Day till I got to college, but that seems to be a rarer and rarer occurrence. Altho the district where my daughter used to teach still starts then. In our county, the kids have been back for 2 weeks already.
Now that I’m no longer a school kid, I’m a big fan of year-round school.
**Midget **- you’re almost exactly a year older than my daughter - she turns 30 tomorrow.
I just finished adding some topsoil to one spot in the backyard, seeding it, putting a mulch blanket over it, and now it’s being watered. With luck, the grass will take hold firmly and that spot will stop washing out.
I also replaced the ends on a hose, moved the sprinkler out front to water another section, and refilled our bleach spray bottle, altho the sprayer no longer works, so we’ll need to run by the dollar store. We’re also going to look at a plow blade that supposedly will mount on our riding mower. If it’ll work, that’ll be great! It’ll also ensure that we won’t have snow this winter.
For now, I’m having a cold drink in an attempt to cool down. It’s not that hot out, but boy, is it humid!! I shouldn’t be this sweaty from a mere hour of not-too-intense labor. Sucks to get old.
I take that you’re no longer sickly, FCM? Because when I get sick, doing yardwork is abut 447th on my list of priorities. Just sayin’. ;)
Office is at about 35% staffed as folks are taking a 4-day weekend with the Labor Day holiday. I might go up to Nashville tomorrow and do the Zoo thing, but outside of that no great plans for the weekend.
I have made N.O.T. sallit, baked and frosted a cake (chawklit sheet cake with chawklit icin’). Take that every sitcom mom from the fifties/sixties!
Also, I’s hongry! We’re gonna go around elevenish to Ryan’s [del]hog trough[/del] buffet. After that OYKW wants to go to :eek:Wally*World:eek:. Adventure awaits!
Today however will be a long day. I absolutely must do my employee evals as they are due by the end of the month and I will be in Dallas/Ft Worth all next week. I don’t want to go but go I must.
I am hungry and there is very little here to eat so a trip to the Publix store is in order. I bought myself an early Birthday present. It’s a mini fridge for my office and I just got it the other day. There is nothing in it yet.
I’m still getting coughing fits, and I could use more sleep, but seein’s as how I’ve only got a couple more weeks of retirement and I need to get these patches seeded, I figured I’d have at it. Tomorrow, I’ll try to seed the side hill - it’s supposed to be cooler then.
That’ll be a big problem with going back to work - the yard chores will have to be done on weekends or our alternate Fridays off. With de-leafing in the offing, that will be an issue.
My weekend began today, but I’ll be back at irk Monday. I didn’t get out of the doctor’s office until eleven…and I had an 8:30 appointment. This afternoon has been productive though. I might even get ambitious enough to put together a shelving unit for the studio this evening.
Howdy Y’all! I survived the trip to :eek:Wally*World:eek: but needed nappage afterwards to recover. Dindin shall consist of foragin’ if’n comestibles are desired as we’re both still pretty stuffded from grazin’ at the [del]hog trough[/del] buffet.
