Back to the Dollhouse: Season 2 Premiere ''Vows''

Second season kicks off tonight.

Sounds convoluted, hopefully Whedon makes it work. It will be interesting to see where this season goes and if the series can stay on the air.

The buzz is that season 2 is much improved over the first, but I still don’t see a path to any sizable mainstream appeal. I’m just going to cherish this half-season that I’m painfully confident will be the last.

Whoa. Amy Acker is scary as hell!

Is that Jamie Bambers actual accent?
Oooh, and Helo’s glaring at them.

Also, Helo evidently paid for Echo to get brainwashed into thinking she’s his partner. That is, ah … screwed up on many, many levels. As Boyd correctly noted.

Whatever happened to this process being akin to murder, in Ballard’s eyes?

Is that Alexis Denisof’s actual accent?

Whiskey is so much more interesting than Echo. I want the show to be about her.

We need someone from Firefly to complete the Battlestar/Angel/Buffy/Firefly set.

Let’s see:

3 people who have been in Angel

2 people who have been on Buffy

2 people who have been on Battlestar

None from Firefly…hmmmm…

Well, there is Alpha / Wash for the Firefly connection - but he’s not a regular.

Well, it sort of is - it’s very much an ensemble show.

According to the opening sequence, Echo is the only character on the show

Who was Sierra suppose to be-Emma Thompson playing Jackie Kennedy?

Summer Glau is scheduled to appear in at least two episodes.

Meanwhile, holy crap, Amy Acker is one hell of an actress (I’ve never seen an episode of Angel). Too bad she won’t be in most of the eps this season.

Ballard and DeWitt’s verbal sparring was pretty good too.

Lord, I love this show. Total mind candy.

The missions are the worst part about this show. The show needs to find a way to do episodes with resorting to cheesy cliches about undercover agents bringing down rich arms dealers.

The only reason Echo isn’t interesting is because she is a new person in every episode. If she had a stable character then she’d be just as interesting as every other stable character on the show.

Perhaps with this thing of Echo becoming a permanent composite–Alpha without the homicidally psychotic tendencies–Echo will be allowed to develop into a (rather complicated) character in her own right.

By my count,

Angel - Alexis Denisov, Amy Acker, Eliza Dushku

Buffy - Eliza Dushku, Alexis Denisov, Felicia Day

Battlestar - Tahmoh Penikett, Mark Sheppard, Jamie Bamber

Firefly - Alan Tudyk, Summer Glau

Mark Sheppard was also in Firefly as “Badger”.

I am so happy they didn’t slow things down for new viewers, since newcomers had their chance to catch on for the entire first half of last season. They jumped right in, and it was “mind candy” indeed.

Also, God love Amy Acker.

Yes. Weird, isn’t it? It sounds fake, but I think that’s because he did grow up in England.

I love the show. I love the characters. I especially love that Alexis Denisof is back on my television. I have a serious crush on Ballard. I wasn’t going to let Joss do this to me again, but apparently, I’m weak and he knows how to push my buttons.

I meant in* that *episode.

I’m wondering when Topher is going to figure out he’s a Doll too. He gave Whiskey/Saunders his own unwillingness to leave the Dollhouse, re-enforced with a fear of crowds, light and noise.
