We’ve thrown snowballs. We’ve made snow angels and snow people. We’ve ran and dug and slid around. Mr. Wrekker pulled a pallet around behind a 4 wheeler with grandwrex hanging on.
We’ve came in for Hot chocolate.
Many, many, many times.
We’ve wiped dog paws.
And…
Ol’beck threw a snowball and hit Mr. Wrekker in the back of his head. I’m bad, bad, bad.
I’ve mopped my nice bamboo floors more that I ever cared to.
I’ve listened to baby wrekker cry because her fingers were frozen. Brought indoors to warm up and cry because she wanted to go back out.
I’ve smeared vaseline on 4 pairs of chapped cheeks (facial) more than once. And told Mr.Wrekker to put some on his chapped cheeks (other than facial) when he hollered about my well aimed snowball.
Okay. I’ve had enough. To last me awhile.
Mother Nature go away. Bring my Arkansas back.
More snow predicted overnight.
Jee-whiz. Ain’t I lucky?
Great post, Beck! Brings back a lot of memories of playing in the snow with my family and friends when I was a child.
We’ve got snow on the ground here, but up until today, it’s been far too cold to go out and play in it. The warmest we’ve had over the last ten days or so has been -20C/-4F, often colder than that though, and always colder at night. That’s pretty cold; I’m lucky that my car started on the weekend.
Beck, you may want your Arkansas back, but for now, take the time to enjoy the snow. Just as I’ve got lots of happy memories of playing in it in my younger days, so will your grandchildren, especially if they’re playing with you. Take lots of photos, too!
If you have electricity and your pipes aren’t frozen, you’re doing better than some.
My cats’ water bowl in the kitchen has a thin layer of ice. We break it up every couple of hours with our finger while they glare at us.
The meezer is under my two down comforters, flannel sheets and an electric mattress pad (when the electricity is on in my neighborhood). Sleeping in two pairs of socks, long sleeved turtleneck, cardigan sweater and a zip up polar fleece jacket and a micro fleece cap. The Siamese has made it clear she ain’t coming out of the down cave til Easter. Can’t blame her.
I worry for my Doper friends down your way and Texas. We’re used to it and have experience and the necessary clothing but it ain’t fair for you guys. Not fair at all.
They are doing rolling blackouts. Our Electric Co-op has asked peeps to put off laundry and other chores that require electricity.
Hey, I’m down with that.
We had fun.
And…
It’s snowing again.
Son-of-a-wrek has decided the shtf and no one told us. That boy!!
I’m amazed at all the animal tracks in our yard. I have no idea what they all are.
Have the meezers been out? Its fun watching them deal with snow for the first time, shaking it off their feet. As long as you can get them back in. Vienna is oblivious to anything snow-related.
The Siamese are sitting in my window seat staring at all the poor birds flittering around my feeders.
They have that squinty-eye look. I sure hope they don’t get snow blindness!
Shtf=shit hitting the fan.
In other words, the sky is falling or the apocalypse has started.
Son-of-a-wrek has a doomsday thinking brain.
He’s been waiting on it his whole life. That and a bunch of conspiracy theories that would scare the crap outta you.
You sure are! So far this winter here in southern Maryland, we’ve had only the shitty kinds of snow - mixed with slush or ice, or followed quickly by rain.
And that’s the forecast for tomorrow, too: snow from maybe 4am to 9am, then changing to a ‘wintry mix’ for a couple of hours, then freezing rain until mid-evening, then a mix of rain and freezing rain.
IOW, major suckitude on the way. Fuck this disgusting excuse of a winter.
My congratulations that everyone had fun, my condolences that the weather is not moving forward quickly. Here in my part of MN, we expect three days of deep freeze and then back to the lighter stuff, yo-yo style. It’s been over two weeks and is now just beginning to move on. 10F feels benign after -20 but we’ll be up in the 20s by the weekend, and maybe our January thaw will arrive next week. I hope it is beginning to move on for you as well.
