Well let’s see…
Chicken sushi ~ Ippuku, a yakitori restaurant in Berkeley serves chicken sashimi; raw chicken with wasabi sprouts, which I’d never seen outside of Japan. It was quite tasty, with a sashimi-like texture and a very clean flavor. Definitely not for the squeamish though.
Deep fried watermelon ~ I’ve had it bruléed in a soup and it was quite nice.
Crab meat ice cream ~ I have prosciutto ice cream in my freezer right now so I don’t doubt that with the sweetness of crab wouldn’t be a bad component.
Chicken, broccoli raisin bran ~ I might be willing to try the combination.
Mashed potatoes and maple syrup ~ There are a handful of fried chicken-and-waffle restaurants which serve mashed potatoes so I know people who have tried that combination (there is one right across the street from my apartment!)
Homer Simpson’s gum & nuts ~ Considering Jelly Belly made vomit-flavored jelly beans, this wouldn’t surprise me either.
Spamsicle
Vienna Sausage Pie
the one and only time i’ve ever fixed food that was completely inedible: beer-sauced meatballs. that was nearly 25 years ago and my BIL ***still ***teases me about it.
the end result was beyond god-awful. none of us ate more than a bite of it. even the dog wouldn’t touch it.
Chicken-fat-ripple ice cream

I’ve had mashed potatoes and syrup. One thing my mom used to do every once in a great while with left over mashed potatoes was make “potato pancakes” (no relation to real potato pancakes.) She would just take the left overs and smush them into flat rounds, rewarm them in a little butter on the pancake grill and serve. We could use syrup or butter or whatever on them.
We also had Japanese onion soup quite often in the fall when the onion trucks were dropping onions all over the roads. If she was feeling flush she’d drop eggs into it.
Why yes, we didn’t have a lot of money growing up. How could you tell?
Why would that be bad?
Cupcakes decorated with kitty litter. Used kitty litter.
Mothball stew.
Anything involving live scorpions.
This exists. You realize sushi has nothing to do with the food being raw, right?
Even so, chicken sashimi (raw chicken slices) is a dish, too.
Chicken sushi connotes chicken served raw as a meal. Yeesh.
And I can’t even imagine eating chicken sashimi. Thanks for the info.
Crab ice cream sounds kind of delicious.
