Attention all BADs:
Joe Strummer (of the Clash, ya heathens) is going to be giving a free in-store concert at Amoeba Records on Haight Street on July 28th at 2:00. Sadly, I may be unable to attend, 'cause a thoughtless friend of mine scheduled his wedding for that day. I might show up and leave early, but I thought some of you might like to go. Let me know.
Ooo! Ooo! I wanna go. woodstock, you’re like my personal musical hero. virtee will probably be up for it, maybe zyzz but I think his mom will be in town then. So I’m interested! Gotta get my dose of culture before I head back East…
That’s a Saturday, isn’t it? I will still be in town (my vacation is coming up). Sounds like something to check out.
Well, I’ve got to be at the wedding at 4:00 (it’s in Alameda), but I’d like to go, if even for a 1/2 hour. Maybe I can bring my tape recorder ans have one of you tape it for me (hopefully security’s not as tight as it was for Shane MacGowan, eh, Rasa?). Or at least get an autograph or something.
Yeah woody, had we not gone for that smoke, you woulda been a-ok with the tape recorder. Either that, or you shoulda stuck the recorder down your pants.
Down my pants? But then where would I put the hamster?
woodstock, baby? You reeeeally don’t want me to answer that now do you?
Whatta hijack.
Yes, as Rasa hinted, my mom will be in town that weekend, and the two of us will be up in Sonoma getting wasted.
Lemme know how it went.
Yeah, zyzz, that’s usually my condition when I have to spend time with my family too. Drink one for me.
OK, concert’s tomorrow. Don’t know if I’ll be able to make it, but I’m gonna try. Anybody else going?
I’ll have to pass for a couple of reasons:
-
When you said Joe Strummer I said “Who?”
-
When you clarified by saying “The Clash” I said “Who?”
Have fun, though.
I am interested.
I am interested.
BAD’s huh? I thought that was **Mick Jones’ ** band?
::chuckle, snort::
(sorry)
Seriously, what the hell are “BAD’s”?
Personally, I would all but kill to get to see this guy live.
Sadly I live in one of those little “fly-over” states that get’s a lot of 80’s reunion metal bands and not much else. I almost flew to Chicago just to see him perform at Tower Records, and the chance to get an autograph or something. The Clash remain my all time favorite band.
They are the only band that matters, you know.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
It doesn’t look like I’m gonna make it. If anybody’s going, could you please try to get an autograph or a picture or something for me? I promise I’ll make it worth your while (have I showed you my tongue?) Crap crap crap.
seriousart, BADs is an acronym for Bay Area Dopers.
I decided I was too tired to make the drive. I do like in-stores, though. I went to one featuring John Doe (formerly of X) when he was touring with the John Doe Thing, a band featuring X drummer D.J. Bonebrake and some other dude. Doe played a song that I requested, “The Have-Nots.” Plus, since so few people showed up to the in-store, he took all of our names and put them on the guest list.
I was totally planning on attending the show, I had even made plans to handcuff myself to the stage until Strummer himself came out to sign my glutious maximus on behalf of woodstock, but somthing happened – I forgot all about it.
Oh well, you can’t win 'em all.
Oh, great. How did I not see this thread until today? You know what I was doing yesterday at 2:00 PM? NOT A GODDAMMED THING! Dammitdammitdammitdammit.
