Joe Strummer is dead :(

Joe Strummer, leader of The Clash, died yesterday at the age of 50. I loved The Clash and his distinctive voice.

I guess he decided whether to stay or go after all. He’ll be sadly missed.

Dang, Rude Boy is gone? Your link doesn’t work and I don’t see this on the internet wires yet. Unfortunately, I never saw the Clash at their peak, but only in the twilight. Think I’ll go listen to the Magnificent Seven and Clash City Rockers.

Oh dear. The link works for me, but here it is uncoded:

Or search the BBC news website.

I just heard this on the BBC TV news.

Well this is a shitty Monday morning…

Fuck.

Gosh that sucks. I loved the Clash.

Dammit.

I love the Clash. I didn’t feel a sense of loss when Joey and DeeDee Ramone died, but now…:frowning:

That was one reunion I was actually hoping for. Talked to him very briefly in a bar a few years ago. In the minute I was with him, he seemed liked a real cool, down to earth sort of guy.

He will be missed. :frowning:

:frowning:

:frowning:

Bastard death. RIP Joe.

This was the first piece of news I read this morning ( “A Brief History of Punk”/ “The death of former Clash frontman Joe Strummer has reminded us. . .” “WHAT!? What death of former Clash frontman?”). How depressing. I guess it’s a Clash tribute day in my CD player.

:frowning:

Crap…I saw him twice and they WERE the best.

Yeah, this was the first bit of news I saw this morning too. My office is practically in mourning over here, the slacker punks that we are.

Damn.

A couple of people in the office have gone home and gotten some old tunes and we are having a Joe Strummer memorial day at the office. This is some great music. Seriously sad day.

Yeah, I have 3 Clash CD’s here, but… I do phone technical support and have ubersensitive mic on my headset so… no can do. :frowning:

Fortunately I have the first CD of The Story of the Clash on my real player jukebox at work. I love the way they did II]I Fought the Law*

Damn. :frowning: I feel old.

Crap.

I’ll bet John Tesh lives to be 104.

God bless WDET in Detroit. Nothing but Strummer all afternoon. And for those of you who don’t live here, this isn’t college radio, but 50,000 watts of FM wonder.
