He was semi-retired from music and taking care of his family! So, why couldn’t he freaking stay alive for his family, instead of dying AT AGE FIFTY??? Geez, if he was going to die young he should have stayed in music.

Amen. First the Ramones, then Mary Hansen of Stereolab a couple weeks ago, now Joe Strummer. No matter what we do, I guess cool people are just gonna continue dying.
Of course I realize everyone has to die. But what is this thing about the best rockers dying so YOUNG, even the ones who don’t do drugs??? G. Harrison gave up drugs in '67 and was committed to healthy living. Dead before 60!
There are jazz musicians who live into their 90’s.
Want to live long? Be a sucky one-hit wonder, and don’t ever dare to be loved by millions.
