Yes! There is a Durty Nellie’s in a Chicago suburb but it just isn’t the same.
Places you went to on vacation and to which you will probably never return
Bahamas - Took a family trip on spring break while I was in high school; it was fine, but there are many other places in the world I’d now like to see
Mar del Plata, Argentina - a family trip when I was 9. We lived in Buenos Aires for 4 years, and I don’t think my parents were impressed by the country’s biggest beach resort because we never went back.
Disneyland - Begged to go there when I was a kid, finally went when my kids were old enough to go. Not going back.
Dominican Republic - We stayed at Casa de Campo, a very swanky resort, because the aunt of a friend had a villa available to use. We loved it and it was a great time but I can’t imagine going back there.

Huntingdon, Pennsylvania - My father’s parents, whom we called Nee-Nee and Pop-Pop, lived there while my sister and I were growing up. Our family visited every couple of years, on average, at Christmas and during the summer. As much as we could, being poor. With them having been dead about 15 years now, no sense in returning.

New York City - Saw some of the main tourist attractions, and they were OK. Dealing with all the dirt, noise, crowds of people, and the traffic were not OK. They couldn’t pay me enough to go back.

Brattleboro, Vt. - My wife’s hometown. We went there many times when her parents still lived there, but they’ve now moved away and sold their house, so we have no reason to go back.

Bucerías, Mexico - A small town outside of Puerto Vallarta. Wonderful charm, food and the bluest water you’ve ever seen. Used to go there with a friend that owned a hotel/resort who has since passed. Would love to go back but it wouldn’t be the same.

Disneyworld, Florida - went there as a child in 1974 on a family trip a couple years after they opened. As a child I loved the experience. As a young adult I made the mistake of going to Disneyland when I was stationed in California ten years later. Different experience as an adult. I discovered you can never really go back to re-experience the magic.

Atlantic City, New Jersey- We were offered an incredibly low rate for a luxury casino hotel and we live just 2-3 hours away. It was February and the pool was wonderful. The rest of the hotel and the town, no way I’ll ever go back unless they pay me.

Backyard Axe Throwing League, Toronto - I competed in a tournament there a couple years ago (I didn’t win) and really enjoyed the experience but BATL closed 3 locations in the US, including the one I threw at, for questionable reasons and I don’t want to give them my hard-earned money now.

Santa Claus Castle, Santa Claus, IN - not connected to the Holiday World Park, this is (or was) and overgrown stone castle with much well-crafted statuary. I saw it back circa 1970 and it wasn’t in good repair then.
Back when I was still ‘Tricycle Bill’, my dad always used to buy both the Chicago Sun-Times and the Milwaukee Journal papers every Sunday. It’s been decades, but I recall seeing ads for some ‘Santa Claus’-themed attraction – might have been Holiday World, might have been Santa Claus’s Castle – printed along with the color comics pages.
He said we’d have to go there sometime, but we never did. We ended up going west and seeing Bedrock City in Custer, SD instead.

Captain Cook, Hawaii, HI - I spent a month (February) in '83 at my uncle’s house on the Big Island. Not really a vacation, as he bought my airline tickets for the purpose of helping him build a work shed. But it got me out of wintery Seattle and I returned happy and tanned.

Car advertisements boasting about gas mileage
I asked a friend who is quite knowledgeable about cars about that. He replied that engines had become pretty much as efficient as they could be, so gas mileage is no longer a selling point. Instead, automakers are concentrating on the car’s technology, how the car handles in various situations, and similar, in their advertising.
