I realized that I meant the category to include all actors, regardless of gender, male and female, since the term “actress” is falling out of use. I hope nobody objects to changing the title to focus on male actors (everyone so far has posted males anyway) and leaving female roles for another time.

Not at all. The major acting awards all still make that distinction (which is, even in these more enlightened times, appropriate, I think, given the very different approaches actors and actresses may take to their roles, not to mention what roles may actually be offered to them).
