  3. 1: Terry Sawchuck, Detroit Red Wings
  4. 99: Wayne Gretzky, Only number retired by the entire NHL
  5. 33: Sammy Baugh, Washington Redskins. The only number officially retired by the 'Skins.
  6. 42: Jackie Robinson, Brooklyn Dodgers, retired by all of Major League Baseball.
  7. 23: Ryne Sandberg, Chicago Cubs
  8. #4, for Lou Gehrig of the New York Yankees. Gehrig was one of the first MLB players to wear a uniform number, and THE first to have his number retired
