I backpacked through nine countries in central Eurasia last summer. I’m 76 and blind. Couldn’t learn Russian worth a damn, though.

    Aside from English, I’m fully bilingual in Spanish and conversational in French, but…up until I was about 25, languages were practically effortless for me. It’s the only realm of intelligence where I feel I was ever exceptional, and it’s faded. I think I could have picked up a couple more languages easily in my teens or early 20s, and I wish now that I knew a non-Latinate, non-Germanic language or two.

Well…I’m both too old and too young right now. Once my kids are all grown, I may very well do so. :slight_smile:
