Pass.

Today my grandson starts his Sophomore year in High School.

New! Favorite High School memories.

  1. Stepping out on stage in a bit part in the third act of a school play and having the crowd roar, applaud and give me a standing ovation.

  3. Being star player/regional All Star’s Team in Scholar’s Bowl (the high school equivalent of College Bowl)

I was crap as an athlete and not a good student but I was off the charts as a scholar’s bowl player, so even though the principal didn’t give a damn how the academic team did it was kind of like my winning touchdown.

  5. A group of my friends yelled “Freebird” and then “Jackass” when my name was called at graduation.

To put it in context, I was a fan of Chicago radio personality Kevin Matthews and those were from two of his bits.

  6. Getting 100 on my first physics test

On the first day, the teacher said “Physics is very hard. Do not expect to get a 100 on any test, nobody will.” I got 100 on the first test. I think maybe the only 100 I ever got in any test all through high school, where I was a C student… And I didn’t even have to study for it, I just got it.
