How does that refute anything? Prince used the symbol as the title for an album in 1992 and copyrighted the symbol as Love Symbol #2. He then adopted the symbol as his name in 1993.

I didn’t go into the details either. But I don’t see much difference between what I wrote and what you wrote other than the words we used. I was explaining that the reason Prince changed his name wasn’t just some personal whim that he later decided was a bad idea. He did it because he was unhappy with Warner Bros and he did it to make things difficult for him. He changed his name back after his contract with Warner Bros ended and he had signed with Arista.

Meh, if you don’t see the distinction then I don’t think I can make it any clearer to you.

Anyway, Prince himself conceded that changing his name to an unpronounceable symbol was not the greatest decision causing people to refer to him as “The Artist Formerly Known as Prince”(TAFKAP) or simply “The Artist” which he was not fond of.

FTR, he left WB in 1996 and signed with Arista in 1999 and released several albums under the Love Symbol #2 moniker before changing his name back to Prince in 2000.
