Prof. Pepperwinkle, the page you’ve cited says that that assertion can be questioned because the field behind the dragon has been described as red.
“many have interpreted the background to the Dragon in Sri Lanka’s flag as red”
“This small island nation off the southeast coast of India on the Indian subcontinent but can only technically be considered for this list if the rightmost sector is considered purple, it really depends on the specific flag that you’re using, the official colour is debated”
“Similarly, if maroon is viewed as a shade of brown rather than red, then Sri Lanka can also be added to the list.”
Wikipedia says that the field is maroon (which it defines as “dark brownish red”), Encyclopedia Britannica says that it’s crimson (a shade of red), flagpedia.net calls it red. The Flags of the World website says that a Sri Lanka based flagmaker calls it red and in 2012, an Olympic committee judged that it was red as well:
The protocol manual for the London 2012 Olympics (Flags and Anthems Manual London 2012) provides recommendations for national flag designs. Each NOC was sent an image of the flag, including the PMS shades, for their approval by LOCOG. Once this was obtained, LOCOG produced a 60 x 90 cm version of the flag for further approval. So, while these specs may not be the official, government, version of each flag, they are certainly what the NOC believed the flag to be. For Sri Lanka: PMS 109 yellow, 361 green, 150 brown, 194 red and black. Sri Lanka

Dewey, yellow Labrador Retriever, 7
No picture. Miss Periwinkle Peabody II, went to the pound six years ago because she was a devil-demon who could destroy anything, including a major part of the back wall of my house. The same day, Booger went to a new owner. Then there was Cujo, and my ex-wife took it with her a couple of years ago; she called it “Sparky Bear”. No big loss, in any way.
