One quick comment about Bob Feller. I attended my first Cleveland Indians game at Progressive Field a couple of weeks ago, where I learned that Feller was the very first MLB player to join the military in WWII. He enlisted in the Navy on 12/8/1941, the very next day, a Monday, after the attack on Pearl Harbor. What a true hero to do that. He joined way before any of the other baseball stars signed up to serve. Feller lost four years off his MLB career to serve in the war. Cleveland’s baseball stadium has a large tribute to Feller. Feller is the only Chief Petty Officer in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
