New Topic: The Best and Worst Concerts You’ve ever Attended

  1. Best: Peter Gabriel, Forest Hills Tennis Stadium, Security tour in 1982
Worst: Jimmy Page/Robert Plant at the San Antonio Alamodome
  2. Best: Elton John, Indiana University, 1973 or 74
Worst: Linda Ronstadt, Indianapolis, early 1990’s (bad seating)
  3. Best: Kiss - 1976, Cobo Arena Detroit - Hey, it was my first concert.
Worst: The Who - Circa 1987, Toronto Exhibition Stadium. I love The Who, but had to stand for the entire concert perched on the edge of a folding chair in order to see anything at all. Stupid crowd.
  4. Best: Ke$ha, August 2011 and then twice in June 2013
Worst: Pee Shy, an opening act for the Village People (who were awesome), 1996
  5. Best: Paul McCartney, ca. 1992, Foxboro Massachusetts
    Worst: Steve Wariner, ca. 1987.
The fact I was with a group of residents of the home for the developmentally disabled where I worked and that most of them thought they were going to see Stevie Wonder and were furious when they weren’t might have something to do with it, but pretty much everybody in the audience gave much more applause to opening act Box Car Willie than to then relatively hot Wariner.

They certainly couldn’t have been TOO disabled if they were able to appreciate how much better Stevie Wonder is than Steve Wariner.

Then smite me now, Lord, 'cause I’m a sinner a million times over!

Worst: David Cook, Cleveland, 2010 - he seemed bored, and rushed through the set

I said they were disabled, not deaf.

“That ain’t Stevie Wonder! Stevie Wonder’s a blind black man, that man’s white and got eyes!” was one of my favorite lines ever said by somebody I was with.

Worst: Laurie Anderson at Vets Memorial Auditorium, also in Providence, RI

    [Extending to 2nd Best/2nd Worst as a jump-off]
Dolly must have the most diverse audience in the business, because you see 85 year olds and teenagers and ultra conservative “church people” and flamingly gay folk and all points in between at her concerts.

Robbins couldn’t help it- but after growing up listening to his music it was so disappointing to see this poor sick guy who looked like he might fall dead any second doing the songs. (He had been ill for a long time and probably knew this was his farewell tour.)
