Bamadope II: The Aftermath

Thank you to all who came and made Bamadope II a rocking good time. I enjoyed meeting bobkitty, Ogre’s girlfriend, Silky’s husband, dqa, and especially TheNerd.

I’m bleary eyed and tired but happy. I can’t wait to do this again…let’s not wait five months this time, okay? I’ll be down in Tuscaloosa from late August–early December, surely we can find a time.

(Of course, Simetra, I’m always up for N’Awlins!)

Again, thank you guys. I had a perfectly splendid evening that I’ll remember for a long time…especially one thing…

Where the HECK were Saint Zero and Juliana? :frowning:

Well, to make a long, sad, story short. The bank screwed us over. It wasn’t until Saturday at about 2pm we finally got everything straightened out. By then, it was really too late to get over there in time.

I’m sorry ya’ll. We were as pissed as anyone could be. I’ve wanted to go to one of these things for years now, but everytime fate seems to hit me with something that keeps me from going. I probably should just give up and not worry about it any more.

Saint, I’m sorry to hear that…we just got worried is all. We waited for you and Lsura for awhile before we decided you guys weren’t coming. I’m glad you’re all right.

I was pissed at my car-I knew it had issues, but I’d done some work and it had been running so well. I really hoped that my e-mail would get through, or that someone would see my post to the other thread so that y’all wouldn’t wait for me.

My car apologizes most sincerely, and it will be disciplined most severely(possibly to the point of being replaced if the repairs are too expensive).

Great times, people. My head is killing me, but hey…the punishment didn’t outweigh the crime! :slight_smile:

I loved meeting TheNerd, bobkitty, dqa and seeing my other buddies again. I had a marvelous time.

And the food was really good, too!

We were NOT thrown out. We left of our own volition. I do imagine they were not unhappy to see us go, however. :wink: And believe it or not, I remember everything.

We got in pretty late, but it was well worth the hangover. We had a really fun time.

I don’t know where Simetra is, but I can’t wait for the sig line, either! :smiley:

Nocturne’s memories of Bamadope II (in somewhat-chronological order):

2:15:Nocturne the Neurotic Must-Be-Early person leaves with her friend, No-Surfer-Too.

3:20: Nocturne buys Better Than Ezra CD (had to sneak that in somewhere!)

3:30: Nocturne and No-Surfer-Too (let’s call him NST) run into Simetra, who is there early. Nocturne and Simetra discover they are dressed very much alike (red metallic shirt over black shirt.) An small quarrel ensues over who’s copying who.

Sometime shortly after that: bobkitty shows up.

Sometime around 4: SilkyThreat, her husband, and TheNerd show up.

4:00-nearly 5:00: we wait on Lsura, Saint Zero, Juliana, and the children. We keep seeing people we think might be them. Simetra and SilkyThreat keep walking around accosting people, trying to see if any Dopers are wandering around confused.

5:00: We decide to head for Pepito’s. We get there, after doing some fabulous synchronized car-circles. I felt like I was leading a wagon train!

For awhile, we stay in Pepito’s. Simetra is a VERY WHITE Ricky Martin. bobkitty does the “tongue thing.” dqa is very confused about TheNerd’s presence at Bamadope. Ogre and his girlfriend show up and then leave (losers!). TheNerd writes a whole bunch of interesting quotes from us in his Visor. We discuss the Washington Monument. People have Sex on the Beach. People talk. A lot. Too much.

Eventually, we get done at Pepito’s. Those of us who aren’t scared of water run in the pouring rain to the coffeeshop down the street. Those who are afraid of water go get drunk.
Again, people talk. Things go on. The world turns.

Nocturne, TheNerd, NST, and dqa go to Hale’s Tavern. A band sets up. They have an upright bass player! They were pretty good, especially because they were free music.
Everyone goes outside for fresh air. More things happen. People talk. The world turns.

Simetra, dqa, Nocturne, NST, and TheNerd are accosted by a very nice Baptist lady.

Nocturne leaves at one o’clock in the morning and gets home at two.

Why did Bamadope II have to end?

Now wait a darn minute…

The tongue thing happened AFTER the sex on the beach. If you’re gonna point out that I did the tongue thing (twice, actually!), you have to get the order right. That way I can at least salvage a bit of my reputation and say the SOTB got me a little randy. :wink:

And I wasn’t afraid of getting wet (right, Sim?), but I did continue on to the bar to get drunk(er).

The pics, I would imagine, are as we speak being blown up to poster size, and TheNerd and Simetra are coordinating how much to request in blackmail.

The sig line you’ll just hafta wait for. But Silky’s gonna have to explain it! :smiley:
