Okay, youse guys. Tomorrow (or really today when I get a free moment), I will post a final head count of everyone who’s signed on to be at this Dopefest so far…you will have a week to confirm. (I’ll send emails to those who are slow in confirming.) I know this is really early, but I know I need a month in which to do Christmas shopping to ensure that I have the money to spend.
The limit’s 10-15 dollars. After I email everyone with the person you are Secret Santa for, feel free to post to this thread stating a few gifts you would enjoy that are somewhere in the limit. (I say a few because there needs to be SOME element of surprise.)
And you all better buy me alcohol at Bamadope for organizing all of this, dammit.

I can’t make it. Work is going to be hell these next couple months, and Best Buy has a hold on all time-off requests until after January 7th. Also, recent events have required me to spend my money very conservatively, and a plane ticket is out of the question.

I’m sorry I didn’t make it, racin. I was supposed to drive down to Tuscaloosa tonight with a friend of mine, but she never bothered calling me, so I finally left the house and went to see another friend (my mother doesn’t like me driving to Tuscaloosa late at night without someone with me).
I’m really super sorry and I’ll send you a spiffy Christmas card… Cookies would’ve been awesome.

I’m proposing we meet at four at University Mall on Saturday, December 29th. We will then proceed to a restaurant. What restaurant do youse guys prefer?

GA (and east AL) Dopers are welcome to dinner, movies, merriment, and crashing at my place on the evening of the 28th. I think the only person I’ve got confirmation from on that is Fiver. C’mon Dopers, do you want him to have me all to himself?
If you’re coming out on Saturday, my place is right on the GA/AL line, so you’re welcome to leave your car there and carpool with me. However, I’d like to get out to AL a little early the next day (leave GA about 12-ish) to do some shopping- I got the cutest leather pants last time I was out there, and I’d love to see if they have any more.
Four sounds fine, Noc. I’m not familiar enough with the area to weigh in on restaurants, though the Mexican place was pretty good. Hey, just to make this a truly painful 'Fest, is there anywhere in your area that has karaoke?

I plan to look alllll spiffy for this 'Dope (not that I usually don’t), so I think I should entice more people to come and see the glory that is Nocturne.
Noc darling could you also check out hotels and motels in the area. If I am going to be at a dopefest on my birthday I sure as hell aint driving home that evening

Count us as a no. Any extra money we have between now and January 25 has to be saved for the (thundering voice) BIG MOVE. (/thundering voice) So we’re pretty much out of the running.
Osip, dear heart, do I look like a travel agent? There is this thing called the Internet…hotels in Tuscaloosa can be looked up on it. If you look them up, I’ll tell you which ones I think will be worth your while.
I’ll post a few places we could go to here in Tuscaloosa for dinner…
DePalma’s: Italian. Good food, from what I’ve heard…
Pepito’s: Those of you at the last Bamadope might want a repeat of this–super Mexican food and affordable.
Mr. G’s Italian Restaurant: Smaller place, affordable, pretty good Italian food. Simetra has been here with me and N0sfura2 before. There’s a “party” room we could use here.
Cypress Inn–somewhat more expensive, REALLY GOOD food.
There’s also a Japanese steakhouse, some upscale restaurants (The Globe, Evangeline’s, etc.)
Just throwing some ideas out.
