Exactly. Plain drunk is after 7 or 8 pints, little tipsy, smoke a whole pack of cigarettes still wake up on time the next day kind of stuff. I’ve alwyas appreciated the user name as a joke in the same way my sister and I made up a “Guinea Pig Hassenpfeffer” song as a kid.
And Googling it at google.de and restricting the search to Seiten aus Deutschland, you still get plenty of hits with two Ss in “Hassenpfeffer”. Was it ever (historically) an es-zett, like “Haßenpfeffer”?

Amber, I’m sorry my name offends, but it’s mine and I’m keeping it. I know what hasenpfeffer is. I know what sauerbraten and rouladen and pfeffernüssen and springerli and spätzle and wurstsalat and all other sorts of wonderful German foods are. Auch sprech’ ich ein bißchen Deutsch.
None of that has anything to do with my name.
I like it because I like the way it sort of blunders across the page. I like the rhythm when you say it out loud: BAMbi HASsenPFEFFer. I also like being able to point out that the Bambi all of you know and love from the movie was a boy, too.
I am really surprised in this thread how many people know who I am, because I’ve often felt I pass through here largely unnoticed, so thanks to y’all who replied.
