Band Name Synonyms Part II

I guess I should provide some clues for the two bands of mine that haven’t been solved yet.

The enticements (Motown group)
[name] and the Item offered for sale to those who’ll believe anything (The item’s in New York. It’s really big and immobile.)

i suspect that whoever identified the “Tinkerbells” as the Fairies was slightly off, since i’ve never heard of a band called the Fairies. maybe it’s just me. but i was thinking Pixies.

the clue for the [name] and item offered for sale to those who believe anything gave it away, although i’ve also never heard of a band named (someone) and the brooklyn bridge. it is the brooklyn one, isnt it? all i can remember hearing about is “well, if you believe that, then i’ve got a bridge in New York i can sell ya…”

here’s a couple. i have no idea how yall’s musical tastes run, so bear with me. i thought of some more that are way too easy to list.

Retiring Rodent
Asphalt

On the radio? Then I have no chance.

Asphalt=Pavement

Heh heh… For the life of me, I didn’t think this one would be that hard. I looked them up – they are a 90’s band. Not pop/top40/Britney-Spears-ish radio, by the way – they would be on a rock station.

Hey, if you told me Big Score Pleasantry would be the last of mine unsolved, I wouldn’t have believed you either!

Robert Island and the Werewolf Killer Group
The Blue Ballplayers
Brady & Wormer
The Temperamental Gloomies
Cleveland Outfielder Quintuplet
A belief renewal in a Florida city
Water Vapor
Zane Grey
The $10 Gold Coins

Robert Island and the Werewolf Killer Group = Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band
The Temperamental Gloomies = The Moody Blues
A belief renewal in a Florida city = Creedence Clearwater Revival
Cleveland Outfielder Quintuplet = Jackson Five?
Water Vapor = Steam?

Monstre <— noting to eunioa that my last post had another hidden clue in it… almost sophomoric, but not quite.

Right!
Right!
Right!
Works, but I had more recent player in mind.
Right!

Here’s more:

Contained Warmth
Catnip’s Adversary’s Recluses
A simple man & almost a department store

Highfalutin Herb–>Nothing But Oregano?

Energy Conduit=Power Station? (gonnnnnngggggg, goes my enlightened mind)
Brady and Wormer=Jan and Dean…cute.

Contained Warmth = Caged Heat?
Catnip’s Adversary’s Recluses = Herman’s Hermits?

eunoia
*Energy Conduit=Power Station? (gonnnnnngggggg, goes my enlightened mind) *

Is that your final answer? :stuck_out_tongue:

Monstre <— noting that his last post had yet another clue… and whose successive clues are not so fresh any more…

Contained Warmth … I believe is Canned Heat.

Energy Conduit … I think I’ve cracked this one … Verve Pipe

What is wrong with you people? - you are wrecking these really cool band names and changing them to existing band names. I hope you never get at Annabald Girdle and the Fishfinger Deadfries or Hot Cottage Biscuitpeel or The John Smith Trio (all 4 of them).

Something preserve us.

In honor of my top notch coding - I shall offer some more of my own (I’ll try to make them easy in case I can’t check back to hint you along).

Rats with Wings - Lots of ‘em
Ebony Tree Razorback State
Hitchikers of the Indigo Seer
Heavenly
Fewer than La Motta
Froggies’ Cousins
Coffee Strainer
Spool Large Sturgeons
The Walking Deads
The Cove Metropolis Curlers

Congratulations to eunoia and Monstre for solving Don Ho, who actually played for my elementary school one mayday in Hawaii.

Monstre

Lou Reed is correct…

*Proper You and I=Au Pairs?
This is a one word band name *

Is there a band called We? (just checking…)

[/QUOTE]

If there is a band called We I don’t know of them…

Oh yeah…

Jeff Olsen

Zane Gray=Billy Squire perhaps?

Also…

Hitchikers of the Indigo Seer=Riders of the Purple Sage
Fewer than La Motta=Less Than Jake
Froggies’ Cousins=Toad?
Coffee Strainer=Filter
The Cove Metropolis Curlers=The Bay City Rollers

Close.

Yes on Jan and Dean, Canned Heat, and Herman’s Hermits.

Yet to be solved:

The Blue Ballplayers could also be The Blue Defender Guys.
The Cleveland Outfielder Quintuplet is British.
Zane Grey plays the piano, man.
The $10 Gold Coins are good for a spending a night in LA, just don’t drink too much tequila or you’ll be sorry in the morning.

Cleveland Outfielder Quintuplet - The Dave Clark 5?
Zane Grey - Billy Joel? (If so, this was a good one…)
A simple man & almost a department store - Simon & Garfunkel
Here’s a couple to ponder…
Wonderland Girl in Bondage Gear (man that makes me laugh!)
Ghastly Male Children
Overpopulated Residence
Shrub
Prehistoric creature the Second
Bludgeoning Holiday fruit

** Wonderland Girl in Bondage Gear (man that makes me laugh!)**
Alice in Chains
**
Ghastly Male Children**
Beasty Boys**

Overpopulated Residence**
Crowded House**

Shrub**
Bush**

Prehistoric creature the Second**
Dinosaur Jr.**

Bludgeoning Holiday fruit **
Smashing Pumpkins.

And if someone hadn’t already gotten it, The Enticements is The Temptations.

Here are a few:
Certainty
Vertebral Dance-form
Satsuma Figment
Cheeze Job
Nordstrom Halftone
Wedding Cisterns
The-baptist Southern-general Prostitute

Good job, Skerri! Now there are only two of mine left.

I tried solving others’, but it just gives me a headache.
