Bands that sound exactly like their name

Right on; I had never heard of them so I thought I’d see what was up.

Strawberry Alarm Clock (psychedelic 1960s rock)

The Rolling Stones.
The Bangles.
The Blues Band, d’oh…

ETA: Elvis Costello and the Attractions, because damned, that band is an attraction.

Low

Crowbar
Eyehategod

Not exactly. They are a quirky indie pop band, often labelled as twee pop (which they don’t like, but almost everything about them is cute, quaint and nice, except for the often very sarcastic and snide lyrics. But that contrast is their greatest appeal). They named themselves after an obscure French TV show about a boy and his dog. I’ve seen them three times and I love the band.

I think the genre is somewhat different from its name also in the rough singing often found which, granted, does convey a sense of easy-goingness but still does not quite live up to the cuteness implied in the “twee” label.

Blind Melon. To me, that evokes the feel of some guitar-slinging solo blues more than the early 90s psychedelic-tinged alt-rock band they were (IIRC, the only album I ever bought solely based on the odd cover, never having heard of them or their music before.)

Metallica would be the obvious one, already mentioned. Megadeth works, too. Outside the metal genre? Siouxie and the Banshees? To me, that name evokes the type of atmospheric goth-tinged rock they were known for.

Bauhaus, while maybe not completely evoking goth rock, does evoke a cold, creepy type of rock music to me, so works for me.

Gwar

Weird Al Yankovic
Yanni
Enya
Celtic Woman

Creedence Clearwater Revival
Fairport Convention

The Beach Boys
The Clash

GWAR fits very well, except for the fact that they are not actually orcs.

They sound like “Kiss my ass” in Gaelic? (They were originally “Pogue Mahone.”)

Tool
Alabama
The Bangles

The Association

Ferrante and Teischer

Doctor Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band

Combustible Edison
Drive-By Truckers
Jayhawks

Air Supply

Band that sounds least like their music: Cake. With that name, it sounds like they should be an inoffensive feel-good pop band.

WTF?
