Bands you instantly identified

There are several bands who, once I heard them, I knew who they were even though I had never heard a song by them. They include:

– The Sex Pistols
– Led Zeppelin
– Mission UK
– Agnostic Front

And a couple others I can’t think of now. What’s weird is that in most of these circumstances I had actually heard the band before – I just didn’t know it. I had heard some stuff from A.F.'s front man, as well as Sisters of Mercy, Public Image Limited, and Robert Plant but didn’t know that they shared band members until after I guessed who the band was! (With the obvious exception of Plant.)

Ever happened to you?

Yes. I once heard a song on the radio called “Dance in My Pants.” To me, it sounded like something like Meat Loaf’s “Bat Out of Hell” CD. Problem was, it was clearly not Meat Loaf singing.

“I’ll bet that’s Jim Steinman” (Songwriter for “Bat Out of Hell”).

Turned out I was right.
