Baseball September 2009

Huuuuuuuge 4-game set coming up between the Tigers and the Twins.

If the Twins can take 3 of 4, it will be a tie at the top of the division; if the Twins can sweep, they will have a 1-game lead.

After that, the Twins have 3 against KC, and the Tigers have 3 against the White Sox.

Interesting articlehere that addresses the wins issue, at least a little bit.

Twins - Tigers postponed by weather. They’ll play 2 tomorrow. The Baseball Gods are building the tension…

I was sort of joking, but now it only requires them to go 2-4 over their last six games.

Considering they’ve lost their last 11 in a row, that seems eminently possible.

If anyone cares I gave a detailed breakdown on the probable Yankee First Round playoff roster here.

Anyone have a link to the pre-season predictions thread? I can’t find it for the life of me. I remember having a discussion about the Marlins making a run for 2nd in the NL East that I wanted to revisit.

30 percent chance of rain today with 30 mile an hour winds gusting higher. It could be an ugly double header today.

Twins - Tigers Update:

1 - 1 in the 8th

Twins had a chance to take the lead in the top of the 9th. Man on third with one out. They tried the squeeze, but the hitter popped it up and the Tigers got out of the inning with a double play. Exciting stuff.

Tigers’ pitcher Lyon (don’t know first name) just threw 2 wild pitches in the 10th!

Update:

Twins up 2 - 1 !

Were you looking for the April thread?

My predictions look fairly good though far from perfect.

Unfortunately, no that’s not it. Thanks for looking though.

Granderson hits a homer for the Tigers. One-run game in the bottom of the 10th.

Well, that was certainly exciting…

“Baseball like it useta be,
Baseball like it oughta be…”

The nightcap should be fun too.

Tigers left runners in scoring position over and over. Any timely hit would do an error anything.

Tiger magic number is 4. If they win the next 2 my Saturday tickets would be worthless.

The Indians have fired Eric Wedge. News conference this afternoon.

Good game last night. Verlander looks like an animal, although not as animalistic as he did in May.

Unless you’re a fan of, you know, baseball! God forbid you would actually go watch a game just for the sake of being out in the sun watching baseball.
